Gallery hotel is a business run by very sincere, sensitive and otherwise wonderful family. The senior owner is a woodworker (in the photo we bought his handmade plate) and his wife is an artist - the house is full of her paintings. The garden and flower beds are ingeniously planted using interestingly shaped stones from the mountains. Various entertainment options are available for guests - a bread (lavash) baking demonstration, a chacha tasting ceremony, and evenings of Georgian folk songs and dances. The food and wine are home-made - delicious like at grandma's :), no headaches the next day from the home wine. And most importantly, it is a great place to plan and go on independent, or with a guide (I recommend), hikes to the mountains. Well, you will definitely not be disappointed there, neither the mountain views, nor the silence of dripping water in caves, nor the opportunity to search for rock crystals or fossils from hundreds of millions of years ago.||Rooms|We stayed in a room with separate amenities. The room and shower are small, but clean, tidy and functional. The bed is neither too soft nor too hard - just right. There was a TV, but we never turned it on, cause all evenings we spend vining and chatting with other guest. There is Wifi.||Activities nearby|We came to Racha for hiking in the mountains and we were definitely not mistaken. The daily routes were chosen by our guide - the young host Nika. Depending on the weather, wind direction, cloud height we were offered the best routes for the day. He would take us to the starting point by off road vehicle, and we would go together to the destination and back. And in addition, whether driving forward or returning, we would visit other interesting places. All days we were out for hiking and getting to know this wonderful country.||Walking paths|The most popular trails are marked (and passable), but to get to the glaciers - that is, to the higher mountains - you need a guide and you also need border guards' permits, which were again organized by our hiking guide, the young host Nika.||Food and drinks|Since we climbed the mountains with a guide, in addition to a great breakfast and dinner (for which we demanded that the amount of food be reduced by half :), we were also provided with lunch, which we ate at the highest point of our climb while looking at the magnificent mountain views.||Information worth noting|If you want to climb the mountains and see places that are not visited by many tourists, rather than rushing around this wonderful country in a week, I highly recommend staying at Gallery and arranging for Nika to be your guide. He has organized all sorts of hikes - climbing glaciers, searching for caves at the sources of springs/streams, and hunting for fossils and crystals - maybe you have an interesting vision for a hike? Then contact Nika, I am sure he will be ready...
Read moreIt is my second visit of this hotel. I have heard a lot of very good reviews about it and that's why decided to meet the owners. It is a part of my job to explore and learn new possibilities and infrastructures of my country, as I am a tourist guide. ||Unfortunately both times I couldn't stay overnight as both times this hotel was booked out. But both times me and my family were received as the most precious guests. We were given much more than we ordered and that was for free. The food their cheff cooks is just fantastic!!! Besides this lady is so kind and nice to kids. We arranged masterclasses for them. She made it so interesting and in a very friendly and entertaining way! Bravo!!! ||Mrs. Elene took my kids to the art class and tought them how to draw. All the time we spent there we saw how Mr. Temuri was running back and forth seeing off one group and meeting another. And during all these rush-hours he could pay attention on us. Most of the decorations are maid of wood by Temuri, and all the arts are painted by Elene. ||And what a nice and clever dog Bombora they have!!! She opens all the doors and takes the plate with food to her house!||Their son Nika is a professional guide and he arranges different kinds of tours to Rachian mountains||It is my insisting recommendation to every human being to stay at this hotel. You won't ever...
Read moreThe Artist’s House in Oni is a truly magical place, where you’ll be welcomed by a warm hearted family and a uniquely charming atmosphere. The surroundings feel like a journey back in time the entire house is a treasure trove of rare and beautiful objects. Every family member is passionate about collecting, and the old Rachan-style interior design of the rooms gives you the surreal feeling of stepping into a different century. Staying here means living in a home that has stood for over two hundred years. Cleanliness and order are impeccable beyond any expectation.
I highly recommend staying for at least two to three days to take part in various hands-on experiences such as baking traditional bread in a clay oven, distilling chacha (Georgian spirit), watching traditional Georgian folk music and dance performances and even joining in if you wish.
I can’t go without mentioning the delicious vegan dinner feast a heartfelt thanks to the chef for that incredible meal. You’ll also have the opportunity to go hiking and try rafting on the Rioni River.
In short, this is far more than just a guesthouse, it’s a deep, unforgettable experience that I...
