The facility is huge, consisting of several bodies, with quite a walking distance in between, with one dining hall and other leisure possibilities collocated in the main facility. The personal extremely friendly and helpful, rooms large and well arranged however with aged furniture. The bathroom shower is in the bathtub requiring some attention to get in and out. So far so good. Once out on the hallway the contrast is huge, industry like hallways, stairwell, totally unfriendly ambiance. If you unlucky to benefit of a few rainy days as I did, have to find your way through the subterrane garage to the main building, requesting a good orientation and will to consider the challenge. The first building had no marking nor directions what so ever, my navigation instinct saving the day... Food of good quality and sufficient satisfying every taste. Reception personal very forthcoming, professional and friendly just as the other personnel in the dining facility. Indoor swimming-pol and night club available as well several meeting halls. Some of these require some maintenance some are large, well illuminated and with good possibility to accommodate different conferences. Overall finding your way around, from one hall to another, the markings and access are difficult. Huge facility with a complex architecture to avoid saying confusing... ||Would I recommend this facility, honestly will think twice before. ||Location, on the hilltop, on the outskirts in a quiet pat of the town. free parking places available, for additional fee available in the basement of each body of the hotelier complex...||Not bad, just average and...
Read moreThe Hotel Sonnenhuegel is not a normal or traditional Hotel, but is more of a Holiday complex, with three huge accomodation "blocks" (called 'Houses') . The first "House" (Number 1) contains the reception area, all the restuarants, the various swimming pools and saunas, etc, as well as bedrooms. The other two houses are purely for accomodation. The Hotel is themed for families, and most rooms are Family sized. Our "double room" was large and well furnished, but also contained a kitchenette and settee which converts into another double bed, so can readily be used by a Family. The room was cleaned every day, was comfortable, and had a large flat screen TV. The restuarants were very well run, and well staffed, considering the large number of guests. The Food was, in most part, very good, and plentiful. We found all the staff at the Hotel were polite, helpful, and many spoke English. We had a five day stay here, as a couple, and were quite happy with the Hotel, our room, and the Food & Service, and would recommend it for staying there either as a couple, or a Family. Parking seemed quite adequate.. The delightful spa town of Bad Kissingen is about a mile away, say 35 minutes on foot, but beware that it is a very steep downhill journey, and you are best to get a local bus (number 5) either from or to the Hotel, or a taxi. Good News, your Hotel pass allows free travel on...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel just for one night while traveling. The hotel is HUGE. I mean, several concrete high rise building. ||The ladies at reception are really friendly, have good information and are very helpful (compliments). ||The swimming pool(s) are great. Fantastic to cool down after a full day on the autobahn. ||Since it was very, very hot outside, the room inside was also uncomfortably hot. We had the full sun on the room and the balcony and you could not walk bare feet on the concrete balcony. ||A la Carte in the restaurant was fine. Good food and very friendly people. Breakfast was also plentiful and very good. On advice of the reception ladies we were there early. ||The hotel looks like it is especially meant for families. Many thing for entertainment for kids and so on. Not really for just one night stay. ||||Cons:||For the price of one night stay, having to pay 5 euro’s for use of the hotels WiFi is ridiculous. This should be included nowadays. Since 3G & 4G signal doesn’t reach the hotel from the outside world, no internet it was then. ||||The rooms are large enough, but dated and quite basic. No airco and an (uneven) sleeping couch for the third person (child, 11 y/o) on the room. Booked for three persons, only two chairs on the balcony. The balcony was empty gray concrete with just two simple plastic chairs and one small plastic stool. Really,...
