It was the worst of all stays we've had so far. Let's start with the fact that it appeared that the room was infested with bedbugs that have bitten the kids badly. This is not something that you would expect in a hotel. Also the employees of this hotel are misogynists in their purest form. Combine this with an incident during our stay, where a bathroom mirror suddenly fell off the wall due to faulty installation on weak, bent metal hooks (this is so unbelievable that we decided to provide photos). Had anyone been nearby, a serious injury would have been inevitable. Fortunately, we were out of the room when it happened. But wait for it. Instead of an apology, we were treated like criminals. The main hotel staff member – loud, aggressive, openly misogynistic – refused to speak to my wife "because she's a woman" and threatened to throw us out along with our three children unless we pay for the so-called damages. I had no choice but to call the police. Despite this, we were forced to pay 200EUR for the mirror, even though it clearly fell due to negligent installation. It is worth noting that there are also visible holes from previous installation – it probably fell down as well. The hotel itself is in terrible technical condition: visible damage everywhere, including a loose ventilation cover falling from the ceiling and a window with what appears to be a bullet hole. A shower curtain is tied up with a string. Shower cabins are missing – likely removed after previous breakages. It seems guests are being blamed and charged for poor-quality fittings. Holes and glue from the previous installation are visible. Despite repeated attempts to tuck the curtains into the shower tray, water leaks from all sides, causing the...
Read moreLocation isn’t the best for starters. When I stayed in June 2019 there were renovation works at the nearest S-Bahn station. This meant I had to walk 30min back from the next one. This probably won’t affect most people, but check it out before you make my mistake. There are trams that go very close and are a good option for getting there from the city centre.
The hotel itself was alright, but just about alright for the price. It cost me around €30 for a night so it’s hard to complain - although there was probably a lot to complain about.
The lady in reception was lovely, but she didn’t have a clue where Ireland was(we were speaking German so it wasn’t lost in translation). Not a problem, just strange.
The lock on my door was more or less useless as the casing was hanging out of the plasterboard. There was bits of plaster on the floor inside - even if the door was locked, you could easily have pushed through it.
The bed was probably harder than the floor next to it. There were no sockets near the bed. Had to use the extension for the TV. The blind was broken and pretty much useless. No air-con in 25C+ nighttime temps(to be expected for the price in fairness).
I mean it’s not a good hotel by any means, but for €30 you can’t...
Read moreThe hotel is literally half way between the city centre and Berline-Schonefeld airport. The room we were in is spacious and clean. If you have the chance for room selection, make sure you ask for a room away from the main road, it can be noisy from the traffic and early morning passing by trams. || ||On your arrival: please note that the hotel reception closes at 23hr, if for some unforeseen circumstances such as flight delay or diverted trains, call them straight away to make sure someone is there to let you in. The number is +49(0) 30 290 450 19. ||||It is very handy to travel from the hotel to the city centre: 2 stops tram to Tierpark Subway station, from there it takes you all way to Alexanderplatz (a popular spot in Berlin) Or one stop tram to Berline-Karlshorst S-Bahn station (5-8 minutes walk). If you are a first timer to this cool city with limited time, you'd better find a place somewhere in Alexanderplatz, though Berlin has the most advanced public transportation system. ||||All in all, that is what a self-claimed 3-start hotel should be: ...
