Camping Braunlage — Hotel in Braunlage

Decent camping, very well suited for campers. For tourists with tents - moderately. Very friendly and helpful staff and the possibility to pay by card for camping. Cash is needed for the restaurant. Several water intakes, a place to wash bikes and dogs :) Sanitart node very clean and high quality. Kitchen node clean, with washing machine, stove (very small for such a large camping!) microwave and refrigerator - all equipment for use for a fee on coins. The huge downside of the hub, however, is the lack of a regular kettle! Something that is, however, on most campgrounds in basic equipment. As backpacker, I have the most objections to the campground. It is located right next to a busy road and the trucks passing by at night are quite noisy. There are only a few leveled pitches for a tent and the rest are on a steep slope. The ground on the leveled ones is also filled internally with rocks under a layer of soil making it simply difficult to put the pegs in. My partner and I enjoyed a week at the campground with our car, large tent, and supplies. Well-organized, attractive layout across different plateaus, plenty of space (ie pitches were not tight), and quiet at night. The sanitation building had just enough for the diverse campers — bathrooms, showers, cooking and cleaning stations (including a microwave!), fresh water, waste water disposal, etc. And Wi-Fi was surprisingly good, stable enough for us to watch Netflix on a tablet even from our position at the far edge of the camp. Oh, and the location of the campground made it easy to access other sites and towns in the Harz region.

My only complaints („meckern auf hohem Niveau„) were that the bread service wasn’t especially worth ordering and the toilet paper dispensers in the women‘s bathroom — those pull-a-single-thin-sheet types — were often „jammed.“ Oh, and the restaurant was just okay.

A great little campsite with all the facilities you need. We stayed for 5 days and used it as a camp for the caravan to venture around the Harz. Some say the road is loud, absolutely not. We stayed near reception a short hop from the road and didn't hear anything. The reception staff were super helpful and we could even order bread to be delivered to the pitch. We ate at the restaraunt on the Sunday night and the food was excellent! The kids were well catered for and the schnitzel was great. There are local bike paths and walking routes to venture with the dog and you need to be aware the local area has been ravished by bark beetle and thousands of trees have been affected! This is the case across the whole Harz and may explain the need to fell the trees in the local area to the site. Overall a great camp site and we...
