In our opinion this is not a 4 star hotel. There are services and elements which is generally associated with a 4 star hotel such as room service, mini bar and air condition. But the rooms are definitely nothing more than standard. The furniture is old looking although the carpet appears to be reasonably new. There are many minor details which further support the impression of not being a 4star hotel. There are few power outlets placed strategically near the writing disk/bedside tables. There were two really hard wooden chairs. The water was not complimentary (which is often customary at other hotels) with a staggering price of 2.5 EUR and the toilet paper was a cheap, rough type. However the bathroom was roomy with a good shower, and the bed was surprisingly soft and we slept well. The breakfast was nothing special and had only scrambled eggs and sausages in terms of warm dishes, we expect more from a 4 star hotel. A nice feature was the free parking, where guests could park across the road. The hotel was also very well situated near a tram station, making it an excellent point of departure for going to the city...
Read moreIt was a good location for us as,we had a car. So popping into Dresden was very easy to do. It's a very larger hotel. We had a room for three. It was in the top of the building where the roofs come together. So one side of the room had slanted walls with big push out windows. (Felt like we should have been in an old inn in a village.)Room was spacious though. Bathroom is very nice. Beds were comfortable. Restaurant was good and packed. Waited a longer than normal time for our food. But they were very busy. Loved finding out that there is a nice bakery right down in the shops that are attached. Parking is available in the front. But they tell you to park in the back and we could not find the back entrance so walked around to the front each time. Three of the five front desk staff we met, were young and quite rude. One woman seemed quite disgusted that we didnt speak fluent German. The young man working the morning we left was eager to help in any way and did...
Read moreJustine at reception was a very welcome sight when we checked in, and on the subsequent days we met. Her friendly approach made a stay in what is quite a large hotel feel much more personal.|Four of us stayed four nights to give us a better chance to experience the area, and I think we timed it just right. |The hotel has dedicated parking across the road, and, even closer, was the tram stop outside the hotel, enabling access to the city in about 25 minutes without having to worry about parking/driving in to a very big city.|As mentioned elsewhere, the price/value of the hotel, combined with its location on the edge of the city and near the highway, make it a great place to stay if you cannot afford to stay at say the Kempinski! |The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with the ability to order, at no extra cost, an individually made omelette etc.|The triple rooms were a great size, and everything just worked....
