Landhotel Waldeck — Hotel in Fremdingen

Stayed at Gasthof Waldeck on a walking trip with 6 others. The rooms were clean and spacious, well furnished. the hotel has a lovely outside terrace which was too cool to use during our stay. The breakfast was adequate but not much variety of food. But the service was rather indifferent. At breakfast, the staff were no where to be found much of the time. One had to go track them down to ask for tea, etc. We understood that check in was 4-6 pm but did not understand that we would literally be locked out the rest of the time - in spite of staff apparently being present we had to stand outside (after walking) for 45 minutes with no access to a bathroom, or a spot to sit out of cold, rain, weather etc. In the morning, I looked for someone for an hour to try to get a wifi password, starting at 7:00 am. People were waiting to check out, ask questions, etc and no one was around till 8:00. Come on - how about better...

Landhotel Waldeck is a lovely family-owned and run Inn on the Romantic Road. Our experience was outstanding. Michael, the receptionist, was helpful, cheerful and accommodating. The family members all greeted us throughout our stay and helped us with things to see in the area and places to go. The room and bath were spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was quite comfortable and linens very nice. Breakfast was excellent with eggs to order and tasty pastries, breads, meats, cheeses and cereals. We ate dinner in their restaurant two nights and the dining room was beautiful. Our room balcony looked over a lovely farm and it was quiet...

One lovely place to stop. Adequate safe parking at the rear for our 9 motorcycles, spacious en-suite rooms, and an excellent evening meal. As an added bonus the locals had a music evening with an accordionist playing, as a coincidence one of our party is a semi pro accordionist who asked if we could join in with some Scottish music. It turned out to be an absolutely wonderful evenings entertainment. We were singing German songs with the aid of text books handed to us, they joined in dancing to our songs, and were there in the morning to see us off. This apart, we will most definitely return here on our annual bike trip into Germany...
