Strange place in several aspects. I will avoid if I can. If it is my decision, never again.||Location: residential street in the outskirts of Gifhorn.||Reception with reduced staff and reduced opening hours. When I arrived, there was a line of people for check-in, and the service was slow and inefficient.||Whenever I left the hotel in the morning, the reception was empty. Maybe due to this, the receptionist demands anyone to pay for the entire stay upon arrival. I gave to the receptionist a company card containing all invoicing elements. Still she had trouble to write a correct invoice, and I had to accept she would make a second attempt later that evening.||The receptionist refused to walk 5 meters away from the reception desk to check from the hotel door if my car was properly parked... Unbelievable! She kept just pointing directions and saying âyou must check yourselfâ. Never in my life was I received like this in a hotel, and I have been in hundreds. In one of the evenings, parking spaces in and around the hotel were taken, and I had to park further down in the residential area. I still have no idea if there is a parking on the back side.||The staff has zero concept of customer focus. For example, staff taking care of breakfast do not even say a simple âgood morningâ to clients arriving at the restaurant.||Breakfast: basic buffet. Often some products need to be replenished (e.g.: scrambled eggs), and it may be slow.||The atmosphere is cold. This does not seem to be a hotel, rather a dormitory for professionals.||I arrived to my room around 7 PM, and the room was very cold with open windows (this is quite typical in Germany: be aware of spiders and insects inside your room â always check upon arrival). Room itself...
Read moreI had a new hotel experience at the Mirada, but it was not good. I arrived at about 1:30 PM in their nice, but deserted lobby. I waited a long time, then wandered about looking for someone. I found the receptionist who promptly told me to leave - check in time was 3:00 PM. I understand no room available, but she actually insisted I leave immediately, luggage and all. I sheepishly left and came back at 3:30 - again to a deserted lobby. I waited 10 minutes, including looking around, but no one was to be found. I then looked up the phone number and called - and reached someone who at first said I might be in the wrong place (I was not), but finally made some calls. The lady that kicked me out earlier showed up and gave me a room - though it seemed clear I was disrupting her day. Service was better the rest of the stay, because I actually saw staff hanging around, but still substandard by any measure.||||The room was ok, nothing special. The location could be peaceful except for the traffic noise from highway. Other guests I encountered were business people that couldn't get a room elsewhere. It's too bad the service was so poor, because that is the only thing that could make this hotel worth the out of the way location. I do not recommend this hotel for any purpose -...
Read moreSpent only a short amount of time in this hotel since I had to depart early the next morning to drive to Frankfurt.||The front desk staff were friendly and spoke good English. The room was spacious with plenty of closet and luggage space. There was also a desk, small table and chair. The carpet and walls seemed very fresh and in good condition. All the TV channels were German, which I don't mind, but it might be stressful to people addicted to CNN or BBC. ||Left too early to try the breakfast. The on-site restaurant is also open for dinner. ||Wi-fi was free and worked well.||Two slightly negative items were 1) the cramped shower - it's a pre-fab box type that I have encountered in other hotels. With such a spacious room, the tiny shower space seems out of place, and 2) the parking is free, but spaces are limited. ||The location is close enough to Wolfsburg and it seems like there are supermarkets and such in the town itself.||I would stay here again when...
