Before we travelled to any of these places we did a lot of research and read lots of reviews regarding the hotels and best places to eat whilst in the countries we visited, , however some of the reviews were not quite right so below is an honest opinion.|| ||Königswinter|| ||The cost of the Ibis hotel was 40.95 Euro, the breakfast was 15.80 Euros for 2 people. || ||We arrived early morning in Königswinter. We went to have a look around as we couldn't get into the hotel till 2pm.|| || Königswinter is a very, very beautiful place, very picturesque. Obviously as it was early it was very quiet and peaceful. We took a walk along the Rhine, saw a Viking cruise ship moored up. From every angle the views were stunning, so much so we would like to stay for a bit longer next time,|| ||The ibis budget hotel is just that, a budget hotel, The room was very basic, but had all our needs for a one night stopover. Bed TV, shower. Though the only English channel was the news. Very clean and tidy, but the bed was a very hard . If they had given more pillows I think it would have been a bit more comfy on the bed. Small towels, so maybe you could take your own, but we managed, no tea or coffee making facilities , but we took out flasks and a camping kettle, so we were ok, There are restaurants around if you want go explore, but we were tired from a long journey and had another long journey the next day, so we decided to go to KFC which is abut 8KM away from the hotel, there is however a Mcdonalds which is literally next door. ||The breakfast ,although unlimited . Didn't have a lot of choice for the price , Think if it was a bit cheaper it would be worth it but because we we were there and had a long journey ahead . Rather than waste time looking for somewhere else we had it at the hotel. Over all, the day we had in Königswinter was lovely, a stunning place to have...
Read moreIt is really strange that at my initial booking through one of the big booking web sites, there was a note in the booking that I had to pay extra fee if I arrive after 10pm. Apparently, the reception is closed at 10 pm. Although I sent an email to the hotel how much was the fee and if there was a way to avoid it, I could not get a proper answer. So, I did some digging and found out that I could check in myself after 10pm through the check-in machine, provided that I have the booking code. The code I received at my booking did not seem to be a legitimate one so here is what I did. ||||I canceled my booking and re-booked thorugh accor hotel web site. Then, everything went perfectly fine. We arrived at 2 am, used the booking code from the web site, got in and had good stay. There was a security guy at the entrance, I guess I was supposed to pay them the extra fee since the reception was indeed closed. The room was clean, had a big bed, a bit small but had all what is needed for one night. ||The light setup in the room was my favorite. ||||One thing could have been a problem: Although we were a couple, the room was listed as triple and a bunk bed was listed to be in the room, however we did not see any in the room. So, better be careful if the occupancy is gonna be three. ||||I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here...
Read moreThe hotel was fine for what it was (budget hotel on the highway), but there were a few things that made it a bad experience for us. First, the elevator was broken, so we had to carry all of our items including baby bed up to the top floor since no other rooms were available apparently. No apologies or assistance offered. Secondly, rooms get hot so it was hard to sleep since there’s no AC or fan. Third, there was a centipede in the bathroom. Fourth, we booked a room for three people but were only given two bathing towels. Fifth, someone knocked on our door at 7:30 am for some reason asking if they could come in… this made me upset since our baby was sleeping and woke them up… it seems early to check if guests want to leave… they should give guests the doorknob notices to advise if they do not want to be disturbed or ask during check-in… either way, 7:30 am seems unreasonably early to be...
