This was not what I expected… Spent a weekend here during a road trip through Germany with my dog. I really don't know where to begin. In terms of hospitality, it was one of the worst experiences ever. Here's a comprehensive review. Environment and bungalow What's really positive about this park: the natural surroundings and the look and feel of the park. It's beautifully landscaped. At first glance, everything seems fine. We stayed in a double bungalow that had been quite worn down over the years. Dirty dishes in the cupboards and stains on the bed were included. The bungalow was small, but fully equipped. The resort opened in 2001, and it appears this was the last time maintenance was carried out. Swimming pool The swimming pool is beautifully landscaped and looks good at first glance. Until we discovered that the entire rapid river and all the hot tubs were out of service. As a result, the pool is about 35 to 40% full. At peak times, the pool is far too crowded, and the lines for the slides are far too long. This isn't communicated anywhere at the park: if you click through the website, you'll find a small message stating that the rapid river ride is closed, without any further explanation or a new opening date. Food & Drinks For vague reasons, we could only order pizza in the plaza area on the first evening. Unfortunately, it was a frozen pizza. We went back the next day for a coffee, cocktail, and afternoon snack, which was fine. The plaza area is very noisy anyway: the evening buffet is also held in this area. During the buffet, carts with empty plates and dirty cutlery clatter across the tiles, making a lot of noise. Because we received little cooperation or answers from the staff, we didn't spend a single cent after our last cocktail. Staff I've often stayed at bungalow parks and hotels, but I've never felt more unwelcome than here. No one seems to want to make money off us, let alone go out of their way to make us feel like we're on vacation. After 30 minutes in a nearly empty plaza area, we walked to the cash register ourselves to order something. When we told them we'd been waiting for half an hour, there was no response, no apology. Placing a new order was also nearly impossible. We didn't receive a warm welcome at reception either upon arrival or departure: they seemed rather irritated that we had stopped by. When we asked how the buffet worked and what themed buffet was on that weekend, we only got a "no" in return. Ultimately, we decided to eat outside the resort two nights. Conclusion Conclusion: this park has a lot of potential, but due to lack of maintenance, poor communication, and a lack of customer service, we left with a bad taste in our mouths. I also don't understand why I had to hand in my bungalow keys at reception instead of throwing them in a bin in the parking lot, because the staff didn't seem to care at all that I was there. I would drive on and find another destination...

Disappointed by Service, Mixed Stay Overall We recently stayed at this resort and had a very mixed experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a receptionist who seemed more bothered than welcoming. As someone who previously worked as a front desk manager, I was surprised at the lack of hospitality. There was no information shared about current resort events, amenities, or pool closures—just a quick handover of keys and a few brochures. It was far from the warm welcome we had hoped for. The house we stayed in was very spacious and well-equipped, which was a definite plus. However, it was clear that cleanliness and maintenance were not priorities. We found ourselves cleaning upon arrival, and the overall condition was worn. The shower showed signs someone had used a peeling product before us, and the headboard hadn't been vacuumed in what looked like a long time. Even the floors were poorly cleaned, which was particularly disappointing since we were traveling with small children who spend a lot of time on the ground. The indoor pool was a highlight—it’s a lovely facility. However, the outdoor area and hot tubs were all closed during our stay, which was never mentioned during check-in. That lack of communication made planning activities frustrating. Another issue: we accidentally left my daughter’s goggles at the indoor pool showers on Wednesday night. Despite informing staff immediately, it took until Saturday to locate them. We were the last ones in the area that evening, so a quicker resolution seemed reasonable. On a positive note, we did encounter one bright spot—our waiter. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and his service truly stood out in contrast to the rest of the resort staff. Overall, this resort has potential, but the guest experience—especially the front desk service and housekeeping—needs serious attention.

The Van der Valk Resort in Linstow offers a beautiful location with plenty of options for accommodations, ranging from hotel rooms to holiday houses. While the setting is impressive and the variety appealing, my experience highlighted some important differences between the two. Choosing a house may sound attractive for families or longer stays, but it comes with notable drawbacks. Despite the high prices, houses lack basic amenities such as bath towels, bathrobes, slippers, shower gel, conditioner, hand soap, and even a hairdryer. This was quite disappointing and made the hotel rooms a much better option in terms of comfort and convenience. When it comes to dining, the buffet was underwhelming. The selection was limited, the taste didn’t live up to expectations, and even more confusing, the staff did not seem well-informed about what was actually included. The information provided differed depending on who you asked until the manager finally clarified matters. In contrast, the à la carte restaurant stood out as a far better choice and is the option I would recommend. On the positive side, the drinks offered at the resort were excellent. Over my 5-day stay, I was able to try nearly all of them, and each one was well-prepared and delicious. For entertainment, both the bowling lanes and mini golf were great fun and added value to the experience. The resort also caters well to all age groups, making it a family-friendly destination. Overall, while the resort has strong points, especially in terms of activities and drinks, the shortcomings with the houses and buffet service left a mixed impression. If you are planning to stay here, I would definitely recommend booking a hotel room instead of a house.

Our stay here has been quite a disappointment. The resort has so much potential and may have been a great place once but it did not live up to our expectations. ||Our main reason for booking this resort was the pools, however most of them, the outside one included were closed. The kids enjoyed the one pool that was in fact open the very first day but were quite bored after a while. Guests should either be notified when certain attractions are under maintenance so that they have the option of going elsewhere, and/or be provided a discount.||We lived in one of the cottages which were spacious both indoors and outdoors. Each house has a small garden and as we were travelling with our dog the garden was much appreciated. However the garden and cottage could have been kept better. The grass was cut recently but there were weeds everywhere and inside the cleaning had been poorly done. There was cobwebs and dust in many places and one of the bedrooms had an unpleasant smell, almost like old urine. We tried to air the bedroom but the smell persisted throughout our stay.||The kitchen is quite well equipped with a coffeemaker, kettle, toaster and more. We were happy to have a freezer compartment for ice cream and such. However, cooking was a bit difficult. We struggled using the two heaters on the stove simultaneously as they were placed very closely. We only had one frying pan which was a bit too big, making it difficult to use the other heater at the same time.||Towels could be provided for a fee, which we did not purchase as we had brought our own beach towels. We would however appreciated smaller towels in the bathrooms for drying after washing our hands. There was also no hand soap so we had to purchase this ourselves.||Customer service has not been great. Many of the staff members do not speak even a little bit of English, we had to use google translate for communication. One night our son became ill and therefore we needed the bedding to be changed. When notifying the reception they told us that it would be handled during the day. Some time later a young worker arrived and simply handed us some clean sheets through the door. For one, we did not receive everything needed and had to yet again use google translate to explain what we needed although we had explicitly told the reception what bedding was needed. We also found it strange that we had to make the beds ourselves. Even worse was that the worker left without retrieving the dirty beddings.||We were also very annoyed at the restaurant. The first evening we went to one of the restaurants for dinner. At first we were met with an employee which greeted us nicely and explained the difference between the two restaurants within the hotel area. One was a la carte and the other offered a buffet and pizzas. We decided on the latter. The servers there were disengaged and barely even noticed our presence. It was highly unclear if we were to be seated by a server or if we should have chosen our own seats. After asking we were shown to a table. There we sat for quite some time before we yet again had to approach the staff to ask if orders were taken at the table or if we had to place our orders at the bar/counter. A server came to our table after that and the time was about 8.40 pm when we placed our order. Buffet for us adults and pizza for the Roughly 10-15 minutes later the kids pizzas arrived and my husband and I went for our first servings. We had waited for the kids to get their pizzas as we wanted to eat together. The food looked and tasted very good, but when we went to get some more they had removed the whole buffet. Apparently they only served the buffet until 21 pm which we were not informed of at any point, either when placing our order or when they served the pizzas and surely must have seen that we had not yet started at the buffet. We were very disappointed and still very hungry as we had only started off with some salad, bread and snacks. When we told the staff they did not apologise and simply told us that the buffet closed at 9 pm. We had to discuss the issue with the staff three times before they eventually offered to let us pay for only one buffet instead of two. We were not very happy about this as the buffet costs as much as 30 euros per person and we had hardly eaten anything but we found it pointless to discuss the matter any further with the non service minded staff. To make matters worse, the server later approached us to tell us that we must arrive much earlier to the restaurant next time to not miss out on the buffet again. As far as we were concerned, there would be no next time. Extremely bad!||At the pool the ”lifeguards” (if you can call them that as we highly doubt that they are trained as such) were even more disengaged than the restaurant workers. They did absolutely not supervise the pool area and one other guest even told us that they had noticed a lifeguard leaving the premises unattended for over an hour. The lifeguards work in either pairs or by themselves, which is far too few compared to other pool areas. We noticed them frequently leaving through an emergency exit/backdoor to smoke which was not only safety concerning but it also smelled terrible when they came back inside.||The kids enjoyed the playground and trampolines (you have to pay for the latter). We did not try the minigolf but it looked like fun. However, the main attraction for us was the waterpark and as it was under construction (or simply just permanently closed due to laziness or the resort not interested in any expenses) we were not pleased with our stay. Had we known, we would have made plans to stay elsewhere. We will not be recommending the resort and will not be...

Angeblich wegen kurzzeitigen Umbauten bzw.

This was not what I expected…

Spent a weekend here during a road trip through Germany with my dog.

I would drive on and find another...
