This appears to be a relatively new hotel. It is situated in the middle of an industrial area, so if you have no car, there is nowhere to go and nowhere else to eat. This is where my main issue is!
I arrived on the Sunday evening at 8.50pm. I had a customer with me, as we were visiting a factory on the Monday/Tuesday. I had no recognition of being a Holiday Inn Rewards Member.
Having flown from the UK, and my customer from Ireland, we were gobsmacked to find that we could not get anything to eat. As there is nothing local, you are faced with ordering from a takeaway. Tired and not happy, I just had a sandwich from the chilled cabinet. :(
For a new hotel, there seemed to be very little services and the staffing was ridiculously slow. We tried getting a beer (no blonde lagers on draught, so we had to order bottles). When we wanted another, we had to wait for ages, as there was one person checking in guests - even though we counted 3 or 4 other members of staff (and indeed got served by most of them).
I had booked to stay on the Tuesday evening as I had a return flight the next morning. This time they were doing food, but VERY limited. They had a hot counter with nachos in, so I opted for this as a starter and a pizza for main. Simple right?....Wrong!!
The nachos were warmish, and were covered in a very thick "cheese sauce", which was stone cold. It was so thick, salty and inedible, I was struggling to find some nachos without the sauce to eat.
My pizza came before I had hardly even started the nachos. I decided to take it all to my room so I could carry on working.
I couldn't force myself to eat anymore nachos, so started with the pizza. It was barely warm, and none of the cheese had really melted, and there was no colour or flavour to the crust. The whole thing was incredibly salty and again, inedible.
Breakfast was not much better. The only hot (slightly warm) option was some hard boiled eggs. The quality of the pastries was poor, and again they were cold and doughy. Very poor selection and quality.
I know not all HI Expresses have a good selection of food, but this was by far the worst that I have stayed in, and by far the worst quality. I would NEVER stay here again and would rather pay a slightly (and it is slightly) higher price and stay at the airport.
Really, really poor service from my preferred hotel group. Very...
Read moreA budget friendly recent hotel located in a business area and only a short drive away from Düsseldorf.
I stayed here 2 nights for a concert in the Merkur Spiel Arena. Spacious room, very friendly staff, quiet neighborhood, clean, ... I absolutely loved my stay in this hotel, 👍.
The only 2 "negative" points for me were that the breakfastroom was rather small, so it was fairly busy I sat in the lobby which wasn't a problem at all and € 12 for parking while you're actually a guest at the hotel is rather expensive but of course you can always use the street parking too...
If traveling by car, I can 100% recommend this hotel. Next time I'm visiting Düsseldorf or going to a concert there I know which hotel I'll be booking. 👍.
Oh, and if you come back late at night, watch out for all the cute bunnies around...
Read moreGreat location. Very friendly service at the reception. The breakfast options are very limited but I really have to say the coffee from the coffee machine tasted very bad but this did not affect my stay. They keep the room very clean and the house-keeping service was on point. I very much enjoyed the stay and will definitely visit again. The main plus is the parking. They have a dedicated outdoor parking. I was happy my car was safe in the night. Also the 24hrs check-in is a plus. Quiet neighborhood and very optimal for one-two night stay for business trips. Would not recommend for a family stay. It is a very budget friendly place. The hotel is located right outside the Krefeld city close to a lot of industries. Very convenient for...
