Herrenkrug Parkhotel Magdeburg — Hotel in Magdeburg

Surprised that this can be called a four star establishment. As a note, I came for a conference being held at the hotel and as such was almost retired to stay here for the duration. To start, the "two bed" rooms contained one bed frame that held two very small mattresses separated by around 3 inches. The pillows were as non-existent as is possible, and the towels... I have NEVER used such thin and rough towels in my life. Overall, the linen situation was what I would call subpar. There was also the issue that only one bed had access to electrical outlets. One side of each of the two-bed setups had two outlets, while the other had none...

A colleague of mine had requested a room cleaning after the second day, and the staff told her that she hadn't been there that long and it was unnecessary. As an English speaker I had many issues communicating with the staff about simple things, but got through check in and check out fine. The food was typical "hotel food" and was nothing special, ranging from horribly overcooked and dry pancakes or chicken to raw bacon on my last morning. Not very close to Magdeburg sights, although there is a fairly frequent tram that will get you there.

Beautiful building, and a nice walk on the paths just outside.

Would I recommend after...

No porters. Two separate lifts to get to the second floor. I booked a deluxe room and the first room I was given was in the attic with windows the size of the slits used to fire arrows out of in castles. After a serious complaint I was given a proper room however the air conditioner did not work. When I queried this the receptionist said the whole second floor was without air-conditioning this would have been fine if the outside temperature had not been the 34 degrees it was during our stay on top of this the room was west facing so the temperature inside the room was well into the 30's most of the time. The secure parking is €16 per day and the swimming pool an extra €6 per person per day. The restaurant was full of flies at breakfast time and front door did not work on the day we left so everyone had to use...

Wir waren zum Wellness da, leider war der Empfang an der Rezeption schon unfreundlich, ihr war es wortwörtlich egal wo wir warten, da wir noch 20 Minuten bis zum Termin hatten, mir wurde bei der Buchung auch nicht gesagt das man keine Minute ehr kommen darf. Naja sind wir ins Restaurant um noch ein Cappuccino zu trinken, dort kam dem Personal nichtmal ein Guten Tag über die Lippen, nur das erst ab 12 Uhr geöffnet ist, obwohl Hotelgäste dort sassen, Zähne knirschend teilt man uns mit wir können uns in Flur setzen und sie bringen uns ein Cappuccino. Auch zum Mittag unflexibel der Gurkensalat sollte durch ein anderen ersetzt werden, ging leider nicht, es wurden 5 matschige Tomaten auf den Teller gelegt. Leider war es in den Fluren sehr dreckig, was ich von einem 4 Sterne Haus anders erwarte, überall Spinnweben, dicker Staub, ein wenig runter gekommen. Beim Wellness wurden wir nett begrüsst, aber es gab nicht mal ein Begrüßungs Sekt oder Wasser. Wir wurden schnell in die Doppelkabine geschoben, dort sollten wir unsere Sachen ausziehen, es war aber nur 1 Stuhl für 2 Personen vorhanden, Bademäntel bekam ich nur auf drängen. Man hatte das Gefühl sie spullen nur ihr Programm runter von Erholung keine Spur, es ging alles hintereinander weg. Wir wurden zu 2 in einen Duschraum geschoben, wo man gerade mal allein sich drehen konnte, hier gab es nicht mal eine Ablage für die Handtücher, sollten auf den Fussboden. Die Gardinenvorhänge sind defekt und hängen zur Hälfte runter, auch hier überall Spinnweben an der Decke, dringende Renovierung notwendig. Fazit dreckig abgenutzt stellenweise unfreundliches Personal, keine Atmosphäre, es fehlen Blumen, Deko einfach irgendwas zum Wohlfühlen, der Schwimm,- und Saunabereich ist genauso trostlos wie das ganze Hotel. Das einzig schöne ist der Herrenkrug. Ich werde allen abraten dort zu Essen oder zu Übernachten geschweige dann Wellness...
