We had reserved a Quadruple room but were placed in a Triple room, which was a bit small for our family of 5. This sort of thing bothers me since there was no mention by the staff they did this, no effort to make things right by putting us in the correct room, and no reimbursement for the additional cost we paid for the Quadruple room. I understand it was a busy weekend but if the hotel was overbooked we should have been reimbursed the cost or moved to our correct room. The girl who checked us in was cheerful, however. We were given a bottle of jam upon check in. Breakfast in the morning was somewhat picked over but appeared to be Organic. We tried two different times each day but found the selection to be rather limited each time. Some of the staff were very friendly while other staff wasn't. We ate in the restaurant twice and the food was very nice. The location is good, near an Edeka supermarket, several shops, and a park near the river. Parking is limited. Wi-Fi did not work...
Read moreWe've stopped here several times en route between Calais & Eastern Europe. It is ideally placed just off the autobahn 2 days east from the Channel. It's easy to find on a main street & though it does not have a large car park, there's a big free one below the hotel. The check-in is in the dining room & now has at least one English speaking person, though the beauty of this Gasthof is its German/Franconian style. The rooms are simple but well-appointed and clean. Doubles etc are spacious while some singles are quite small. Meals (dinner & breakfast) are of a high standard & not expensive. Buffet breakfast while Dinner focuses on solid German dishes. The strength of the hotel is its attachment to a vineyard, with some fine white wines as well its own red in addition to products from other areas. I find this a reliable, comfortable & welcoming place to break a long journey - it would not pale for 2-3 days if exploring the...
Read moreA nice classic hotel. If you like those kind of establishments, you can't go wrong here. That said, you are in a more conservative part of Germany, so expect that kind of attitude. Not that customer orientated, you need to pay full the day before you leave, and they like to show off a lot of things which you are not too sure what the relevance is. Parking can be an issue in the village and the hotel also serves as a restaurant, so places are limited. There is a charger for electric cars, but I'm not at all sure it is for customers.... So, take that into account.
The location is beautiful. The village is next to the river Main, 10 minutes drive to Würzburg and you have a view on some gorgeous vineyards on a steep hill.
If you like the old fashioned, both in terms of furniture and customs,...
