This was my second hotel on the Saar Hunsruck Trail and an excellent base for a couple of days in either direction. The building itself is not particularly beautiful to look at but the interior is undoubtedly of high quality since its recent refurbishment. I had a lovely lake-view room having upgraded on arrival, with a balcony, which was pleasantly sunny. Room faultless bar the lack of WiFi for iPads. Wired access was available for laptops but I had to go down to the reception area or conference suite to use the iPad. Not a 'deal breaker' but a bit irritating in 2012?||||The restaurant is in a separate building on the lakeside with delightful views over the lake. Very good service, attentive and helpful, and very happy to explain fully the menus and did not at all seek to make the meal more expensive by pushing the 'a la carte' over set menu. Food was OK but perhaps could have been a bit more imaginative. I am all in favour of hotels not offering scores of dishes but having only two choices in each category is going a bit too far?||||All Staff were immensely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make the stay as comfortable...
Read moreA late booking to a part of Germany where I'd never been before. It is a lovely peaceful location away from the town or village and overlooking a small lake (reservoir) which you can walk around in 40 minutes comfortably. We had a suite - which was enormous. It was clean and comfortable although there was no lift to our section. Someone commented there was no air conditioning, although the weather we had didn't require it!. The hotel breakfast is a good selection buffet. The restaurant is a short walk (you might need an umbrella) but is beautifully located right on the water's edge. Good food but not amazing. Service was very good throughout. You do need to be able to speak some German to get by, however. This is not an area that caters particularly for English-only-speaking tourists. It is well worth the visit, though, particularly if you enjoy walking. The hotel does have fitness and 'wellness' facilities (no pool) but I'm afraid I...
Read moreGreat Hotel in an amazing location. The good...the room was very spacious (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) with a nice walk out patio space. The price was fantastic (103€ per night) and they are pet friendly (we have two large dogs). The location is amazing, great place for couples or families. Perfect for hiking, biking and fishing. The not so good...staff was not very friendly during check-in; we were not told about any amenities (breakfast location/time, spa/gym...). A lot of bugs, but that is kind of understandable with the location (very wooded). We arrived to breakfast at 1000 (when breakfast ends) and were basically kicked out even though there was still food out. We were given a half carafe of coffee and told we could take it to our room. A coffee pot in the room would have been nice. Overall, great weekend getaway that we...
