I visited during the off season so there weren't many people. Hiking was great - Eifel National Park is so beautiful. It rained, but there were enough clear hours to get a few good hikes in. I enjoyed going down to the village of Gemund each morning for breakfast, but the 800 meter hike up and down could be tricky for some - and the village itself is still rebuilding following the 2021 flood. I did meet some very friendly people in the village though, including a lovely couple who drove me to Bonn, Aachen, and Monschau.
Buses and trains got me into the city and to Germany's theme park Phantasialand, but be careful when looking at the schedules - the buses don't run all day and night Saturday and Sunday and you can easily get stranded at the train station since it's hard to get a cab way out there in the rural part of town. Still, Robin at the front desk was very helpful in planning out some day trips for me, so thanks to the...
Read moreThe appartment was really nice. Everything was available for a comfortable stay.
The only thing in our appartment was that there were some small stains on the wall which looked like blood. Might have been a mosquito that has been smashed on the wall of something else. That should be easy to clean up. And there was a old cassette / cd player, which no one uses anymore. So that also could use a touch up.
Besides that, parking is great. But no chargers for electric cars. You have to find those on your trips and hope that there is a spot to charge. Otherwise make sure you fill up on the highway before you arrive. Sauna is also pretty nice, but you have to reserve it (otherwise it will be off). This service can also improve.
Last thing is that the gameroom is also lacking. There is table tennis, but no balls. And there were few to none boardgames. So this room can really use a touch up.
But all in all, it was...
Read moreThe ferienpark consists of some three or four apartment buildings with an additional reception and services building that also houses the gym, sauna and playing room. Our apartment was very tidy, clean and modern. The sauna can be used for free and wasn't busy at all when we were there in September. Staff at the reception was very nice and helpful. The ferienpark is not really a good place to meet other guests as it is not a camping style place. If you're looking to meet other tourists of course there are plenty of them around in the towns.
While staying here I did discover one big annoyance. They also host people who are not here on holiday and work night shifts. I found some of those people very noisy, playing music in the middle of the night, slamming doors and screaming. Impossible to sleep through. I hope they can fix those issues which I did report to...
