GOOD||Breakfast was great, and the restaurant and bar staff were very nice.||The estate is beautiful, the hotel outside is pretty. Nestled amongst the rolling green and forested hills was lovely.||The spa area is really exquisit, it's large, open and very comfortable. Both inside and outside pools are great. It's the only thing we saw this hotel really got 100% right unfortunately.||The owner walks around and try's to meet and greet every guest, this was nice. Nice man with a huge smile. We didn't have the heart to tell him all the problems we were having (reception already knew anyway).||||BAD||It's a wellness hotel, yet somehow they messed up our massage appointment time. They said it was an IT problem and were unapologetic.||Some people at front desk just didn't know what they were doing. |-On checkin we were told nothing about the hotel, where the pool was, where the gym was and what times were breakfast and dinner. |-Also as we arrived Friday at 8:40pm we were told our half board dinner had already closed at 8:30pm, so we will have to order a la carte, which runs until 10pm. We did so but noticed others were still ordering from the half board menu as we ate. So what we were told was simply not true.|-On checkout we were told we could still use spa facilities until we had to leave in afternoon (max 2pm btw!) and they gave us a key which did not let us into spa area. I stood at reception naked under my spa robe waiting to get a new key for 5mins.||You have a set table for your time at the hotel. This is great if you have a nice one, but for us we were stuck next to the coffee machines which wasn't very nice (though we had partial views out the windows). This means that some of the good tables are just sitting vacant as those assigned had already been and gone!||Checkout is at 11am and the doors automatically lock you out anytime past this. We tried to get in to pickup our bag at 11:04 and couldn't so we wasted more time getting the hotel staff to let us in. This is just ridiculous for any hotel.||Fire alarms went off for 5mins at 9pm one night for no reason.||Balcony was more of a shared rooftop, with 3 other rooms. Not private.||Rooms leave a lot to be desired, basic furnishings, basic bed.||No wifi...
Read moreIf you have lots of money and lots of time this may be an excellent hotel choice. It is set in wooded mountains in a beautiful parkland setting. If you like walking up hills in the woods then you will enjoy your time here. Breakfast sets you up well for the day. It is vast and coffee and tea along with fresh juices are great. Freshly cooked egg dishes made to order are a further joy.||Personally, we found that we booked a room that was very expensive to give us the facilities we wanted (bath tub and air conditioning - the air conditioning is not very effective). To get those facilities we had to book a junior suite with a lovely balcony and a large seating area which we enjoyed but the private sauna in the room was not something we wanted. To be fair the room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. A few English language channels beyond 'news' channels or the ability to chromecast from one's i-pad would have made it even better. ||Swimming pool indoor and outdoor is very enjoyable and not too crowded.||The location is lovely, but quite remote. It takes a long time to get there from an autobahn and once there, opportunities to travel to nearby destinations are limited, so you really do need to focus on the hotel facilities of golf, walking and the swimming pool.||We booked half board and while this comprises a lot of courses after a few days the experience started to become too similar and we longed for less but better. For example, there was always a choice of main course of meat, fish or vegetarian but the meat and fish tended to be small and over cooked and smothered in foams. ||The best aspect of the hotel by far is the friendly, helpful and enthusiastic staff, particularly in the restaurant. However, overall we were disappointed in that when we compare with other German and Austrian hotels with similar facilities and even more beautiful locations, this was a lot...
Read moreWe'd booked a double room with half board for 525 Euro per night. Pricy, so one may expect impeccable service.
The room was really standard like most hotel rooms. Honestly, I'd expected a bit better in a 5 star hotel.
The balcony, charged at 50 Euro extra per night was tiny and had a view as shown in the picture on weeds and a rooftop. (photo) Early in the morning you could glimpse a bit of sun though...
We've nothing to complain about the restaurant and its excellent team. That was up to standards. Also the wellness is very good with a lovely swimming pool.
Due to old ventilators in our bathroom and in those in neighboring rooms there were loud humming sounds during the night that woke me. After a rather bad night I complained and we got a different room with less noisy ventilators. So far so good.
Roomservice would bring our two bags to our new room before 2 pm that day, we'd nothing to worry about. Nonetheless, we'd packed most ourselves already and placed all ready to bring over. At 3 pm my husband checked but nothing had happened. He had to take action and room service had forgotten part of my luggage still. Luckily we found out later and I personally checked the old room as we'd lost all faith that they could manage such a simple task.
So with such rooms and room service I can't give...
