Berghotel Mummelsee — Hotel in Verwaltungsverband Kappelrodeck

We stayed at the hotel three nights Aug 2020, during the COVID pandemic. I will leave out any negative comments I believe solely relate to the current times, which make it very difficult to provide normal services and a normal environment. I rated the hotel very low because of many reasons. One, the family rooms face the street and being on a busy street made our stay somewhat stressful. It was very busy on the street and parking lot. Also, there is a guest house directly next to the hotel where people are standing in front of smoking drinking and playing music nearly all day when we were there. Maybe mostly important but listed here second, our bathroom was so smelly from the moment we stepped into the room my son would barely go to the bathroom. We had someone from the hotel look into it and this person said it was normal. It was a horrid smell. We got dinner included but cancelled it the second night because the food was only so-so and was extremely large portioned. Quantity not quality. I probably ate 1/4 of my fish plate because the fish was particularly inedible. I got the veggie burger for lunch and warning, this is not a veggie burger. It’s a massive hash brown with two small slices of grilled vegetables on top. The wine and cakes were so-so at best. They did have wonderful schnapps as a highlight to the restaurant. Of course the hotel with the surroundings are breathtaking, but I would never sleep or eat...

We had a confirmed booking at a confirmed price but a check out got an invoice over 20% higher|When questioning we were told we emailed our child being 1 year old (instead of 9)|We online checked in 3 days prior to arrival when emailed to do so by the hotel and we clarified the age. We didn’t get informed about the discrepancy.|The presented invoice also included a charge for breakfast although the booking clearly stated breakfast included.|When we queried reception printed an email prior to our original booking were we asked for a “Zimmer für 2 Erwachsene und ein (Jahre altes Kind)” obviously forgetting to add the 9 in the brackets)||Firstly I think the hotel could have clarified then|They should have mentioned it when we checked in online or at check in|AND they also wrongly charged for breakfast ||Not great if you need to renegotiate at the end of your stay||The hotel is in a great location |The rooms are really nice and we enjoyed the breakfast and dinner|Staff is really friendly |It’s dog friendly which is great|Lots to do in the area i.e great hikes and views||We like to visit the area again and maybe stay a couple of days longer however due to the issue and the sour taste feeling pressured in taking the full hit on the kids age dispute will look at...
