Hotel Lindenhof — Hotel in Warstein

This is a nice hotel in a rural area but it does not deserve three stars: ||1) It starts with the booking process. You cannot book online and when you call a grumpy old man acknowledges your request for a reservation with "it is OK". No confirmation at all. And of course, they could not find my reservation at first, when I arrived! ||2) It is in desperate need of a make-over, unless you are a fan of the 80s charm. That becomes very obvious in the bathroom. ||3) The TV in the room is smaller than most people's laptop monitor. ||4) There is not even a phone in the room. ||5) The breakfast buffet is small and service is not up-to-speed to replenish it. ||6) The elevator only goes to the 2nd floor, so if your room is on the top floor (3), you'll have to shlep your suitcases up. ||||To be fair, the people are very caring and nice, so the hotel is probably a good choice for those that wish to get the full flair of the area. ||||Finally, at EUR 88 for two (including breakfast), the hotel is overpriced and does not provide the value you expect...

I recently spent a night here after being introduced to the hotel by a colleague from work. The rooms are clean and comfortable and if you get a room with a balcony this provides additional seating area and refreshing breeze in the room during a hot summer's night. You feel like you are stay in a very large town house, with free parking, a quaint beer garden and super family-style service. The breakfast was fresh, varied and overall very good. Wir kamen nicht zum ersten, allerdings zum letzten Mal in dieses Hotel. Wie schon vor 5 Jahren reisten wir (6 Kollegen) auf unseren Motorrädern an. Trotz telefonischer Vorankündigung war nun zum zweiten Mal niemand um 15.50 Uhr für uns ansprechbar. Am Telefon lief nur eine Bandansage,man sei bis 16.00 Uhr in der Pause. Nun standen wir da, durstig und alleine auf der Terasse,ohne Einlass, bei 39 Grad Hitze in unseren Mopedklamottten. Nach wiederholtem Anruf um 16.05 Uhr (niemand hatte in der Zwischenzeit das Haus betreten) ging der Chef "Stephan Ochel" an den Apparat und fragte ganz vorwitzig warum wir bei der Kälte nicht hereinkommen wollten. Dies fanden wir weder witzig noch amüsant. Vielmehr lief uns die Zeit davon, weil, und auch das war besprochen, unser Taxi zur Sauerländer Edelbrennerei bereits auf uns wartete. Also hatten wir weder Zeit eine kühle Dusche zu nehmen, noch ein fehlendes Begrüssungsbier zu genießen . In über 30 Jahren in denen ich mit meinen Kollegen auf Tour bin, haben wir noch niemals solch eine arrogante Begrüßung, wenn man überhaupt von einer solchen reden kann, erlebt. So, jetzt habe ich mir die Wut von der Seele geschrieben. Alles andere war klasse. Die Zimmer sauber, das Frühstücksbuffet ein Traum und auch das Abendessen hervorragend. Hier noch einmal ein Kompliment an die Küche und auch die Servicekräfte waren ausgezeichnet. Speziell der junge Mann am Abend und die Kollegin beim Frühstück (leider haben wir keine Namen, denken aber das man weiss wer gemeint ist).
