We stayed at Grand Eco Cabanas at Lake Bosomtwe, which some guides describe as a new and modern hotel. Unfortunately, our experience was very different.

The road to the hotel is in very poor condition and hard to find, with no road signs or directions. This was never mentioned by the hotel or in any of the guides. Another surprise was that you must pay a fee to access the lake area — it’s supposed to be 10 Ghana cedis per person, but when they saw we were foreigners, it suddenly increased to 30 cedis each.

When we finally arrived, the hotel looked old and neglected rather than new or modern. There was no bar by the lake, even though it’s advertised, and while the restaurant had a large menu, almost nothing was actually available.

The staff were kind and did their best to help, but it was clear they were limited by poor management and lack of resources.

Our room was in poor condition: • The air-conditioning didn’t work. • The walls had large stains and visible leaks. • There was no soap in the bathroom. • Worst of all, there were blood stains on parts of the bedding.

Several promised facilities were missing or unusable — there was supposed to be a golf area, but we never saw it, and the swimming pool was completely empty.

Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. The location by Lake Bosomtwe is beautiful, and the staff were friendly, but the hotel itself needs major renovation, honest advertising, and better management to reach even...

This is our 3rd hotel on our honeymoon tour and in fact, is the best place of all the other two. We arrived very tired but we were received with a chill natural juice. We checked in our very clean, spacious, and well-designed room with good fragrance all over. The hot bath was the best so far in our journey. We had the chance to do the mountain hike the next day at 6 am and it was all fun for us. We did the canopy walk and boat cruise in the afternoon. We had an issue with our fridge and called for it to be checked. They changed our fridge for us when it could be repaired. I ordered to see the chef and tip her some tokens because they were on point

As a hotelier, I was always particular about my breakfast and they did not disappoint. All their breakfast comes with fruit or fruit juice.

The hockey lessons, canopy walk , boat cruising and mountain hiking were all there to make our stay memorable. The staff were very helpful and polite

The only issue for our stay was that the road that leads to the facility was not good which we never knew hence we were using a small car. Advice use a car that is high...

Not Worth Your Time or Money!

I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The 6km stretch of road from the main road to the hotel is in terrible condition, and by the time you get there, you’ll already be frustrated. The rooms are seriously overpriced for what you get and that’s very little. The pool is unusable , the water was dirty, and the outlet that’s supposed to recycle the water is broken. There were also plumbing issues in the room. On top of that, there’s no WiFi, no complimentary water, and no access to the lake (no boat cruise, nothing). Food prices are outrageous, we asked for 4 slices of bread and just 1 Lipton tea bag(no sugar/milk), and they charged us 50 cedis. That’s pure exploitation. The final straw was finding a dead insect on their towel. We had planned to stay the entire weekend, but checked out Saturday afternoon and drove back to Kumasi. Honestly, this place needs a complete overhaul in service, facilities, and basic hospitality before it can even think about calling...

Drove from Kumasi to Lake Bosomtwe to visit Eco Cabana. The road from Kumasi to almost the lake is very bad and being worked on but will take a long time to complete. The road from Kuntenase to Eco Cabana is 5.2km of dirt rough road. Very dusty in the dry season and muddy in the rainy season. Place looked very nice but we were the only guests there for the day. It was a Thursday. There was one staff there. A young lady by name Gabriella. She seems to be a one woman show. She was amazing and very friendly. Place was empty with no activity at all. The chef was out but again Gabriella managed to prepare Red Red and Plantain with Palaver sauce. We had a nice meal. Had a look at the rooms and left back to Kumasi through the Ejisu road which was 100 times better. Plan to visit place again in the rainy season to see more greenery as now in the dry season, everything is dry and dusty.
