We stopped here after visiting Elmina Castle (refer to my write up about the castle - I think it was upfront and a fair review). ||I wasn't impressed by the façade of the hotel resort but how wrong could I be? looks can be deceiving!. We only stopped for lunch after visiting the castle and was pleasantly surprised with what we'd found. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. ||You never know what the quality of the food is like until it comes. Now whenever Lobster appears on the menu I always become weary but I needn't have been worried with this place. @ £17 for x6 lobster tails with salad and fries! what a bloody bargain? & there was me cautious ordering the chicken kebabs which were also delicious. ||One of the others had snapper! also delicious, I just couldn't fault this place, the exterior doesn't do this place justice but that's the magic. We had to bag the lobster up for takeaway as the food we ordered filled everyone up. ||I would definitely return here for the food itself. The scenery wasn't bad if you'd asked to eat outside before the sea, the atmosphere was great, well worthy of the experience. Don't be put off by the exterior, the food itself more than makes up for it...

||Voto 3/5||||La cena||Abbiamo cenato in Hotel.

The best thing about this hotel is the wonderful staff— helpful, welcoming, friendly, accommodating. The location is very good, it’s a short drive to the Elmina “Castle” (slavery dungeon fortress) with its “Door of No Return”. Heart-wrenching and not-to-be missed. Our room was fairly recently renovated and was fine. The hotel as a whole needs an update, parts of it were shabby and in need of repair. A breakfast buffet and free wifi are included in the price of the room. |Two downsides: 1. the restaurant dinner food was not good. Although my daughter and I appeared to be the only non-Ghanaians staying at the hotel, the menu was geared to American and European dishes, which the kitchen was not capable of preparing well. There was only one “Ghanaian Dish of the Day” on the menu. I ordered fish bc we were on the ocean and I could see the fishing boats but the fish was previously frozen and was tough and dry. 2. It’s called the Elmina BEACH hotel but there...

This is not the Elmina Beach Resort I remember visiting a decade ago. It feels like nobody is managing the place and it has fallen into disrepair. It just doesn't feel high-end anymore. I didn't stay overnight and I don't think I'd want to. I did have lunch in their restaurant and was presented the option of serving myself from the buffet or ordering off the menu. I appreciated the option, but the buffet looked like it was over already, what was left didn't look very appealing at all. So we ordered from the menu. I'm sad to say the chicken and yam chips were not tasty at all. The chicken was dry and not flavorful at all. We also ordered a pizza and had the same criticism. We were hungry but we simply would not eat all of it.

We went there based on the information we received that they were running a promotion for the Christmas season. Only for us to get there to be told they haven't started the promotion yet. Instead of them to apologise, they rather tried to convince us to stay coz after all the cost had reduced. It wasn't about the cost for us, but the disappointment in ensuring honesty. We intended to spend 3 nights but we checked out the next day. If you want to experience the beach properly, this might not be the place for you as the fence around the hotel doesn't allow you to go outside the hotel. There are huge rocks between the hotel and the beach. Apart from these, the place looks good and we did like their food too.
