I've stayed at Maasankofah Hotel on 2 different occasions in 2014. Its a moderate sized guesthouse with about 8 or 9 rooms at a reasonable price (150 cedis/night at the time I stayed there). The house itself is situated on a hill overlooking the rest of Aburi, with Accra in the distance so you can imagine how beautiful and breathtaking the views are. I stayed in the same room on both occasions. It was quite spacious, clean, and well maintained. Also, there was free wifi with only a few hiccups. My only complaint is that the shower pressure was very very low but I hope that has been fixed now. The other rooms may not be as spacious as the one I stayed in. ||||The cooking and cleaning staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food there was pretty good, including the complimentary breakfast. I ordered grilled tilapia, red red, and grilled chicken and rice during my stay. The icing on the cake for me was my interactions with the captivating owner, Maa Sankofah. Not only was she incredibly friendly, we had hours of interesting conversation during my stay. Additionally, I observed Maa Sankofah's commitment to maintaining a unique, quality, and homey guesthouse that stayed true to its Ghanaian roots. On top of all that, she was an incredibly hospitable and generous woman who shared with me a few samples of her favorite locally made products with me (Thanks!)||||All in all, I'd highly recommend you stay at or visit this gorgeous guesthouse if you ever find yourself in Aburi. I was personally there for a writing retreat and I'd say its a great place for that if you're looking for an inspiring and peaceful environment to get...
Read moreAburi is a very pleaant part of Ghana in the hills above Accra. There is a very good new craft market in Aburi and about a 1/2 hour away an excellent bead market in Odumase on Thursdays. Maa Sankofah's Hotel is very well managed, clean, nice staff and everything, shower, AC, TV, etc, worked well. The rates are very reasonable. The garden is particularly nice with a spacious outdoor covered restaurant and bar. Usual slightly superior breakfast included, egg, toast, vegetables. The hotel is quiet with some lovely views. There is also an upstairs terrace where the 6 of us relaxed until late and enjoyed...
