The hotel is very attractive on the outside and well kept. Inside, it is also quite well maintained, but the standard of service leaves something to be desired, being slow and often unresponsive (seemingly unsupervised). The wifi costs GH ¢ 5.00 per device per night -- we were staying 3 nights, and happily spent the money, but the wifi was intermittent and quirky at best (my wife had to enlist the help of desk staff to connect her iPad) and did not work at all on the third night (specified "technical problems" were cited on both occasions). The hotel is clean and quite comfortable; the a/c worked well. Breakfast was unimaginative; we ate other meals at the nearby Linda Dor restaurant on the highway, which is quite decent. The hotel has a fridge in the lobby with cold beer, which is quite cheap (GH ¢ 5.00, as I recall, compared with 7.00 or 8.00 in most hotels in Ghana). The hotel is close to excellent birding locations in the Atewa...
Read moreWe stayed here for a couple of nights while exploring the area on a birding holiday. It's got a rather grandiose name despite being quite ordinary. The hallways are stiflingly hot and the room AC works - but not that well. There wasn't any top sheet on the bed so we had to ask for one. The bathroom (I'm being kind here) was very basic, the water being a mere trickle - and even that was shut off at some point during the day and we had to request it be turned back on so we could shower. The WiFi is woefully slow, and that's when it's working (they often turn it off in the evening). Our only meal eaten here was an early breakfast, the very forgettable eggs and dry toast. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would we...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the Nelsban Palace hotel and found it to be very good indeed. We never tried the WiFi so I can't write about that but the rooms are fine, clean, they have hot water, airconditioning and apart from the halls being a bit dark, we really liked this place. Nothing was ever too much of a problem. Laundry was inexpensive and very well done. The highlight of our stay though, was Sarah and her command of the kitchen. This small hotel had some of the loveliest food we ate in our entire trip to Ghana! ||||Overall the hotel appears basic but you have to remember this is rural Africa. Nothing is going to be posh and just like home here. For where it is, this little hotel is great. I'd...
