Aqua Safari Resort Review: Identity Crisis in Paradise

Let me be crystal clear - Aqua Safari Resort has all the ingredients to be something special, but it's suffering from a severe case of identity confusion and staff apathy that's impossible to ignore.

The Fundamental Issue

The most frustrating aspect isn't the facilities - it's the complete lack of spirit. This isn't some uptight urban hotel where everyone needs to be formal and reserved. This is supposed to be a RESORT - a place where fun and engagement should be the priority. Instead, you'll find an environment where enthusiasm goes to die.

Staff & Activities

The resort offers plenty of activities, but they're all handicapped by a puzzling lack of energy. You'll find: Run-down bikes in limited riding areas A single, worn-out archery target board Jet ski operators who seem indifferent to your experience Staff members literally sleeping on site

What's maddening is how easily fixable this is. We're not asking for five-star luxury service - just basic enthusiasm and engagement. Is it really too much to expect bike instructors to show some passion? For jet ski attendants to share the excitement of the experience? For horse riding guides to actually seem interested in their jobs?

Food & Service Confusion

The buffet (250 cedis/person, ~$17 as of January 2025) is decent enough, but the service experience is baffling. Despite wearing their bright orange wristbands, guests are treated with suspicious scrutiny, repeatedly asked for day pass receipts as if they're potential freeloaders. This constant questioning creates an unnecessarily hostile atmosphere.

Pricing & Value Proposition

Here's the harsh reality: add 100 cedis to whatever price you're quoted, because the listed prices apparently mean nothing. Whether you're planning a week-long stay or just a day of jet skiing, expect to pay more than the advertised rate. The lack of pricing consistency just adds to the resort's identity crisis.

Final Verdict: 4/10 Aqua Safari desperately needs to decide what it wants to be. It has the bones of a great resort but is crippled by its lack of direction and spirit. The most depressing part? When boredom inevitably strikes (usually within two hours), don't bother exploring beyond the resort - there's nothing there except an exploited village.

The tragedy is that this could be a viable destination with just a few fundamental changes: Invest in staff morale and training Embrace being a resort - it's okay to be fun and engaging Maintain equipment and facilities Establish clear, consistent pricing Treat guests with respect instead of suspicion

Save your money until they figure out what kind of resort...

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Aqua Safari Resort in Ghana, and we cannot express how impressed we were with the entire experience. From the breathtaking location to the outstanding service, this resort truly exceeded my expectations. However, we must give special recognition to our butler, Antoinette, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Antoinette was a gem from the moment we arrived. Her warm and friendly demeanor instantly made us feel welcome, and she demonstrated a genuine passion for ensuring our comfort and satisfaction throughout our entire stay. Her attention to detail and dedication to providing exceptional service were truly remarkable. From organizing romantic dinner reservations by the beach to surprising us with thoughtful gestures in our room, Antoinette's personalized touch made us feel like royalty. Her knowledge of the resort's amenities and activities was exceptional, and she was always there to offer valuable recommendations and ensure that our preferences were taken into account. Antoinette's impeccable professionalism and commitment to customer service were evident in every interaction we had with her. She was consistently available to assist with any request, no matter how big or small, and she always did so with a genuine smile and a willingness to go the extra mile. Her genuine enthusiasm for her role made a significant difference in our overall experience at Aqua Safari Resort. Beyond Antoinette's exceptional service, the resort itself was a true tropical paradise. The lush surroundings, stunning beachfront views, and well-maintained facilities created an atmosphere of tranquility and relaxation. The accommodations were comfortable, and the amenities catered to our every need. The resort's restaurant offered a wide variety of delicious meals, and the staff were attentive and accommodating. Overall, I cannot recommend Aqua Safari Resort enough, and my heartfelt thanks go to Antoinette for making our stay so memorable. Her commitment to providing outstanding service and creating an unforgettable experience truly set her apart. If you are looking for a luxurious and rejuvenating getaway in Ghana, Aqua Safari Resort is the place to be. And if you're lucky enough to have Antoinette as your butler, rest assured that you'll be in the best hands possible. Thank you, Aqua Safari Resort, and thank you, Antoinette, for an incredible vacation that will forever hold a special place in our hearts! Note: This review is purely based on my personal experience and is in no way influenced by...

From its breathtaking location and luxurious accommodations to its range of activities and impeccable service, this resort offers a truly unforgettable vacation experience. My partner and I needed a quick weekend getaway from Accra, and we chose Aqua Safari for that. Our objectives were to enjoy a change of scenery, some good food, and a lot of rest. We achieved each of these to an extent. The drive was about 3 hours on Saturday morning from Accra Central all the way to the gates of Aqua Safari in Ada. Check-process in was pretty smooth and the room quite basic despite it being the "Superior Deluxe" Room. It was pretty small but had everything we required. A clean bed, a TV and a fridge. There wasn't really much of a view though. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner -- all buffet and not entirely by choice. There were barely any servers around to give a food order to and we had overheard other patrons complaining about how long it was taking to get ala carte orders served. We therefore erred on the side of caution and went along with the buffet spread. Priced at 150 cedis per head, the selection for the lunch and dinner were unexpectedly limited. The food did taste good though. Breakfast buffet was way better. We did enjoy our cocktails a great deal! They were delicious and there was no skimping on the spirits. There were boat rides and jet ski rides available for renting. There was also a pool that was very popular among the guests and open to day visitors. It isn't very deep unfortunately, and was too crowded for comfort. Our favorite part of the trip had to be the animals we encountered on site. We found a little sanctuary inhabited by some turtles and a number of different birds from all over the world. They seemed to be well-fed and happy. We also kept seeing very beautiful and sociable peacocks and donkeys all over the property. Lots of mini-aquariums in and around the hotel lobby area as well. We liked that a lot. In summary, being a low-maintenance guest with not too many expectations might be key in having a good time here. We were glad for the change of pace, and made the best out of what was on offer. It seems to be family-friendly as well but it might be useful to call ahead and iron things out just in case.

This place is amazing. Check-in was pretty smooth, and you are assigned a butler who's supposed to be on speed dial for anything you need while there, from activities to getting a snack in the middle of the night. I had a butler named โ€œAKAPKOโ€ his service ruined the experience as a whole. He was mainly unavailable. I called several times and even had to go to the front desk myself to ask his whereabouts because, for almost everything I needed to do at the resort, I was told to ask my butler to arrange it. Getting there: The road leading to it was terrible. The destination is designed to make you forget the awful experience of navigating there once you arrive, and you only have to think about how bad the road is when leaving. Drinks: Shout out to the black female bartender with cornrows!!! Her cocktails were some of the best I've ever tasted, im talking; this woman knows her game, hands down. Food: Aqua safari has some of the best buffet-style food. Food is always kept to temp, and there were always excellent options. Their food left a good lasting impression. Activities: There was more than enough to keep you occupied your entire time there. I suggest you do all the free activities before the paid ones. The one-hour bike ride was worth it. Spa & Pedicure: I loved my sessions there; the facials were excellent, and they give extra products and follow up even after you've left to ensure the products are working and if there is anything they can do better. Final thoughts: I enjoyed my time there and will recommend it to anyone trying to escape home. It doesn't come cheap, but it is definitely an experience.

So, I and my partner visited the resort on 27/9/24 and it was my first time ever in Ghana as a Nigerian who had lived in England for 10years. Apart from the location being in outskirts,I would confidently say that I had an amazing/ relaxed stay in this short while. All the staff were polite and helpful. The food was so filling and with nice varieties. Tetteh, who was our buttler was brilliant, super helpful and prompt with calls. I honestly recommend him, he needs a promotion to be fair. The money spent was well worth it and as Africans in diaspora, this is what we need for relaxation and rest after the hard works. NB- the activities was great too. We participated in Jet ski, kayaking, horse riding, canoeing, cycling etc. Talk of the Karaoke burn fire night, live band entertainment whilst having dinner close to the river with cool serenity.๐Ÿฅฐ. Thank you Tetteh and all the staff, you all deserve a raise ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ. Ps: would sure come back next time but this time with more days to spend๐Ÿ˜Ž.
