Our family stayed at the Maaha resort in late November/early December of 2022 as part of a larger tour of Ghana, after visiting and staying at a host of other hotels throughout the country. By far, our experience at Maaha was worse than any other hotel we visited. Although the site appears beautiful on the surface, I do not recommend staying here.||||Some portion of the issue might be due to the travel company that handled our booking; our four person family (parents and two children, 13 and 11) ended up in a beachside bungaloo that was clearly intended for a maximum of 2 people. Blame cannot be solely placed upon the travel company, however, as not only did Maaha allow that booking to be made, they confirmed it upon arrival -- including the number of guests. Our welcome letter stated only that the buffet breakfast was complimentary for guests ("bed and breakfast" was the phrase we kept hearing from them), and did not mention that only two breakfasts were complimentary. This became an issue later on, as we would inconsistently be charged for for our kids coming to breakfast. After the first charge (on the second day), I began skipping breakfast to allow my kids to eat; even still, 5 days of children's breakfasts added more than US$180 to our bill. Our tour company ended up picking up the tab on this, as it was also their understanding that breakfast would be included for all of us.||||The exorbitant charge for a child's breakfasts was consistent with other food prices at the resort being outrageously expensive compared to every single other hotel we'd been to. (In general, food prices in Ghana are low, especially compared to the United States and Europe -- even at hotels.) The quality of the food was passably good (in general -- there were occasionally issues that were very bad), but the prices reflected the fact that there was no other option for food in the vicinity -- without a car, there's simply nowhere else to eat. I assume this was also the reason that the structure of food service was also unpredictable. At first, we were presented with menus for lunch and dinner; by the time we left, we were basically ordered to come by early to make our choice between two or three options they'd present.||||Although we had positive interactions with a few staff members, many would preemptively present me with a complaint form. I found this behavior to be quite odd, as it started late on our first full day, well before I would have had anything to complain about. By the time we left, I found myself dreading the prospect of talking to anyone there. My wife and children, on the other hand, were perplexed by the number of times staff remarked "oh, you're still here?" or "why haven't you gone yet?" The overall feeling was that -- for whatever reason -- we were not truly welcome, and they wished we would leave.||||I have other complaints -- the lack of adequate mosquito control (like bed nets), which meant we had experienced dozens of mosquito bites (and, for my youngest child, scars from scratching mosquito bites) by the time we checked out, or the exorbitant laundry service (10x the prices of other hotels) which damaged by clothes (unlike any of the other hotels), and other (admittedly minor) quibbles -- but the lack of transparency with regards to pricing and food, along with the unfriendly attitude targeting my family, are the the biggest reasons that I felt moved enough to come write this review to dissuade others from going through what we went through. Of the seven hotels at which we stayed in Ghana, this was -- by far -- the worst experience that...

(MARCH 2022) I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it. From power outages that prevent you from getting running water in your room to a poor selection of food and the slowest service. A big wire gate runs along the property line obstructing the view of the breach and cheapening the experience. The rooms and other amenities ( the ones that are actually open) are nothing close to what is depicted on the website's pictures and videos, which explains the low occupancy rate. This was a big disappointment and horrible introduction to the western region. When making complaints, be prepared to be met with empty apologies and no offer for the inconvenience.||||I stayed for 3 days, and the power (and water) went out on each day. After speaking to the manager named Anand (over the phone) and letting him know of all the inconveniences, he only issued an apology. I pushed back, and he said all he could do was provide complementary breakfast and lunch and that issuing a refund, in full or in part, would take over a month to process. You run a hotel. Why would it take a month to issue a refund to guests who are probably only staying at your establishment for a few days? Prior to checking out at breakfast, I asked to speak to Anand directly and was told he was too busy to speak to me. ||||When I went to check-out, Anand came out of the back office to let us know that he'd done all he could possibly do by offering us complimentary meals that in my view amount to approximately $25 - this is not enough considering I had to sit in my hotel for hours dirty, and with no lights, A/C or running water to bathe or simply wash my hands after using the unflushable toilet. I read this review to the manager prior to me posting this and it was fine with him because he felt that he did his best to accommodate. Please, folks, save yourself the headache and disappointment and book yourself into a...

I went to Maaha with my family: my wife and three kids, my sister and mother and my in-laws for Easter in 2024. We booked three rooms for three nights and it was a terrible experience. By far the worst experience we have ever had as we have been to most hotels and resorts in the country as a family tradition. We stayed there for three nights and I had to have my room changed every night. The TV and AC were not working in my first room. The fridge was not cooling. My second room had a leaking AC and we woke up to a flooded room in the middle of the night. The toilet seat was the wrong size in this room so you could see the porcelain of the water closet where most of the toilet seat should have been. The last room had a broken shower mixer and shower holder and the room phone was not working. The toilet in my in-laws room was temperamental. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. This is not a luxury hotel, and it was frankly a waste of money after driving 7.5 hours to the location from Accra. The organisation was also extremely poor as we had no idea what was happening or when it was happening. For instance, we missed the movie night because we were not informed about the time, location or even what movie would be showing. Communication was severely lacking. We went on a boat ride and we were not informed in advance that the children could swim at the pool on the island we went to; as such we did not take appropriate gear for this, which was very disappointing for them. Overall it was a bad experience and we reported this to the manager. They really need improve if they have plans of getting return business.

Pl do not call this as a resort rather it’s a basic lodge. Here are some pic of deluxe review room and nothing works here. Day 1, came late night no kettle , internet , bad Air-condition Day 2, upgraded from standard sea view to deluxe sea view and payment should be in advance ( they knew the problem already)same problem and no outdoor AC unit, no door lock and midnight there is a room change again towards a backyard ( not a sea view ). Day 3, in the morning found few lizards and they blocked some of the holes by dirty cloths and after few hours many more found inside can’t tolerate and asked manager to have a look and shifted to another room around 4 pm. Lot of flaws in this room as well but some how managed with standard room and checked out, Asked for a reimbursement the up gradation money and Michale asked me to wait and Sylvia came and said that 30 days for a reimbursement and within 10 mins after a meeting with her boss Honore reimbursement. Here are some pic for who are willing to come from Accra to Takoradi and definitely not with children and also I see they don’t care about a single family and they pay attention to a group, yes if you want to there go as a group and bang them if you see this kind of problem and I have witnesses a set of family banged them and checked out in the midnight with proper reimbursement What a memorable holiday , Hail Maaha lodge/ movie house. Well done Maaha lodge and crew

All covid 19 protocols were observed i.e., washing our hands, sanitizing and thermometer gun, then we signed in as day visitors with our contact details and made our way inside. Upon entering we were welcomed by a large canon with the name of the resort on it. To make life easy on guests they have mounted directional signs on the resort which I found very effective. We made our way to the bar beside the pool. Ordered drinks to chill on. The bar was empty and I was happy about that, I mean what other way would you spend your afternoon with your friend. The drinks were affordable. Later we moved to their summer huts to explore the place and take all the pictures to share. You might want to go with a Bluetooth speaker if you go in the daytime. went to the restaurant to order 2 packs of jollof rice with chicken. The restaurant was packed that afternoon but he was attended to and we made our way off the premises. The food was okay for me as I was hungry and did not pay attention to the taste. Maaha beach resort is a beautiful place The bar by the beach is very beautiful and has a neat bathroom 🚻
