Hotel Marathia — Hotel in Arta Municipality

This hotel is a 14 minute drive outside Arta and we found it a bit difficult to find because of the road works on the new motorway. It is a very well appointed hotel in a beautiful garden. A lot of money has been spent and the rooms are big, spacious and comfortable. There is good wifi and toiletries. There isn't a lift but Costas carried up my bag. The family are very nice but dinner is a bit odd. There is no choice and dish of the day was served without us realising it was chicken and potatoes. Wine comes by the glass. This needs to be sorted. ||Earlier we had beers which were accompanied by excellent tapas so there is expertise. Breakfast is unusual but plentiful and very generous. There is a skilled baker in the house who makes delicious pies and pastries. ||The thermal spa is really a series of bathrooms some of which have jacuzzi fittings. Rolled in late after having to backtrack in the mountains due to the road being washed out. The owner's son Costas met us and helped us to our room which was perfectly clean, HUGE, and very well appointed. The room was the nicest interior we had during our trip to Greece. Though it was after 11pm, Costas made up some potatoes and other snacks to have with drinks while we relaxed from a long drive. We hit it off with Costas and ended up talking for two hours about random topics. He was very knowledgeable about the local area and had great tips for what to see. We would have stayed longer but they had a wedding the next day and all the rooms were booked. The grounds were beautiful and the whole place had a very peaceful and relaxing vibe. Wish we had been able to soak in the mineral baths. Breakfast was fresh and tasty (this is where we discovered the wonderful Greek mountain tea).||This little out of the way gem was a highlight of our trip and the perfect example of Greek hospitality. Marathia is a family owned Thermal Spa hotel with incredible owners and facilities. The hotel is spacious, the rooms recently renovated with top end materials and the food, oh..the food is absolutely organic and cooked by the mom of the family, with a touch of culinary excellence that transforms a traditional plate to high end cousine. What really blew my mind is the jacuzzi with thermal water. It is a Couples' retreat within a spacious place fool of wood and stone. You are going to love it. This place is a small diamond, still not mature as a high end 5* Thermal Spa Hotel, but definitely towards becoming one. A small diamond very close to Ioannina and next to Ionian road.
