KRIKONIS HOTEL- IOANNINA ΞΕΝΟΔΟΧΕΙΟ — Hotel in Ioannina Municipality

I have just recently returned from a two and a half week stay at Krikonis hotel. We had to travel from New Zealand to Ioannina as my father was in Corfu by himself and had been flown to the Ioannina University Hospital after a serious heart attack. I arrived solo and was scared being in a foreign country but am beyond grateful that I chose this hotel. Check in was fast and easy. The rooms were spacious with lovely balconies and had everything I could possibly require - very comfortable beds, great air conditioning and very quiet. The location was perfect, just a short and easy 5 minute taxi ride to lovely restaurants and shops in town or to the hospital and a large supermarket next door (plus other handy shops in walking distance). The pool area was great. The stand out of the place for us though is the staff - Chara, Angeliki and Costas were beyond kind - they went above and beyond, always willing to help us and made sure nothing was ever a problem. Terrible experience. The hotel is in very bad condition and desperate for a full renovation. We stayed 3 nights, the second the room was not cleaned and when I asked the receptionist, they didn't really care. The shower cabin was broken all over, full of mold and shower head didn't work! Last day they changed our room se we could get washed. Second room had a broken tub, with mold and no water pressure. Also we were two adults and one slept on a very narrow pop-up couch bed. Breakfast is ok. What made me angry and dissatisfied was that I asked for a discount, since they didn't deliver what they were supposed and they didn't even consider it. Doesn't worth more than 30 euros per night. Available are pictures and videos of what I mentioned. Edit: forgot to mention that our ground floor room had broken shutter on the balcony. Our family stayed at Krikonis from Aug 25th to Aug 30th. 7 of us (2 seniors and family including 2, 6 year old boys....pleasantly surprised at this property....great rates, clean, comfy rooms...EXCELLENT pool and pool bar....sun and shade available....breakfast and bar food is excellent...location is fantastic....super close to highway access and downtown Ioannina...not to mention the kids loved the Jumbo store very close by..most of all, the staff is fantastic.......from the front desk team, charoula was super accommodating and made us feel like we were a part of the family at krikonis....Vasiliki was super friendly and very professional....the housekeeping ladies are always smiling and do a great job...the pool bar staff are amazing....Christos and CeeCee made us feel like we knew each other for years...this hotel is the total package....a hidden gem for sure...I highly recommend staying at...
