Not a 5-star hotel and you will pay a higher price for tax (€15/night), it's at most a 3-star hotel. The biggest shock was having our all-inclusive wristbands taken away on the last day at 11:00 AM, right after breakfast and checking out of the room. We had to wait for our airport transfer until 6:45 PM without any access to food or drinks. We could have paid €24 per person to keep the all-inclusive option for those few hours, but we declined and instead went to town in the afternoon for a pizza. We have been to many all inclusive places around the world and it is the first time such thing happened to us.
Rooms are visibly cleaned, but surfaces require wiping with wet wipes – only then are they truly clean. Almost every room had some kind of issue. In our room, the hairdryer didn’t work. In our friends’ rooms, the fridge and TV were broken, and in another room a few things also didn’t work. Only after the tour operator's representative got involved did the hotel staff actually take care of it. When I asked personally about fixing the hairdryer and whether it would be done that day, they just said “possibly.” But after we complained to the rep, it was handled immediately. Our friends even got their room changed.
In the main building there was hot water, but in the adjacent building where our friends stayed, the water was lukewarm at best, and the room was very cold and damp – despite it being the end of May.
Food was okay but repetitive. For more demanding guests, the choice will be limited and definitely not up to 5-star standards. Due to the small number of guests, the Greek night event was cancelled.
On the plus side, it’s quiet here (at least in the olive grove area, where you can lie down and read a book). The nearest small town is a 45-minute walk away, and there are no buses. The only options are renting a car or taking a taxi.
To sum up, this hotel leaves a very average impression. I wouldn’t recommend it and I wouldn’t return. You can find something better for a similar price, for example in Possidi, just 10 minutes away by car, where there is a beautiful beach for sunsets and at least some infrastructure.
The beach at Anastasia is rocky, and because it's located on the first finger of the Chalkidiki peninsula, it's extremely windy. At 23°C it was impossible to enjoy a pleasant swim. We only managed to sunbathe and swim later at Orange Beach / Paradise Beach on Sithonia, where, despite similar temperatures, it wasn’t as windy and felt much nicer.
One big plus was the Rainbow Tours representative, Ms. Magdalena, who organized everything perfectly and solved every problem. Without her, the stay could have become unbearable. Thanks to her, it was okay – but as I mentioned before, this hotel is only worth it if you find a really good deal, like €800 per couple with a flight from Poland. Otherwise, it’s just not worth spending more...
Read moreWe stayed at this resort for 9 nights from the 22nd September. When we arrived the check in process was quite good, the gentleman on reception was friendly and they had left us some food and drinks in our room which was kind. When we got to the room it smelt musty as if it had been empty for a while. The room itself was fairly old fashioned and could definitely have done with some love, there was peeling plaster, old yellow air con buttons, there are only 2 plug sockets (including the socket for the to) and they are not near the bed. However, the bed was comfortable and didn’t move apart as a lot of hotel room beds do, and there were memory foam toppers, and the view into the garden/towards the beach was lovely. Once we had been in the room a day or two the musty smell left. The housekeeping staff were friendly although we didn’t find they actually cleaned whilst we were there or changed the sheets often (ours were changed maybe every 2/3 days) and one day they knocked before 9am and we were still sleeping. Unfortunately, on our second night, the hotel decided it was ‘winter’ and turned the air con to heating, meaning we had heated our room the entire night without being told. We then had to wait 2 days for a fan (another couple we spoke to didn’t even get a fan). I did struggle to sleep a few nights from the heat, and I noted that in the spa the air con still worked. The breakfast was probably my least favourite meal as there were often the same things (eggs, bacon, hot dog type sausages, and a continental style buffet), occasionally there would be baked beans or potato bites. Lunch was good, as was dinner, and I have to say all the meat they served was cooked absolutely beautifully and was always tender and tasty. The chefs were always very friendly often walking around at dinner time to wish you a good meal. The table staff were always friendly although sometimes we were not offered drinks or they would misunderstand our order (never majorly though). There is definitely a wasp/mosquito situation at this hotel as there were bags hung in the trees and at the outside dining areas, these didn’t seem to help. I was bitten over 40 times and my partner stung twice by wasps (although understand this isn’t always avoidable and comes with the environment). The pool bar staff were not always that friendly however the area was clean and empty cups collected often. The beach area was lovely and probably our favourite place to sit as you can get shade from the olive trees and watch the water sports activities. The dive centre is also at the hotel and we did snorkelling which was fantastic. I had a massage and it was wonderful, the spa staff are very friendly and this was definitely the highlight of my trip. Overall, I would say that whilst this really doesn’t seem like even a 4 star hotel, it definitely isn’t the ‘worst hotel ever’ as some...
Read moreA deeply disappointing experience - not worthy of 5 stars
We stayed at this hotel as a family, expecting a relaxing and enjoyable holiday experience worthy of its 5-star rating. Unfortunately, what we encountered was far from what was promised, and we left feeling disappointed and misled.
The beach was one of the biggest letdowns. It was dirty, completely covered with large, sharp rocks, and filled with sea urchins even in the shallow areas. Our daughter stepped on one, which was a painful and dangerous experience. The beach was unmaintained, with piles of seaweed left untouched for several days, and even after cleaning, it remained uninviting. The sunbeds were old and damaged, and there were no umbrellas or proper beach facilities available. The only shade was under some olive trees, which was somewhat pleasant, but walking barefoot was impossible due to thorns scattered everywhere, more like walking on farmland than a beach.
The water itself was nice, but that alone is not enough.
Food was average. Breakfast options were the same every day, and the dining area was poorly organized. Long queues were a constant issue, and replenishment of food was slow. Staff often seemed to intentionally delay bringing out new food, even when it was clear that items had run out. The beach bar was operated by only one person, resulting in waiting times of 15-20 minutes for even a simple drink.
Reception staff were kind and welcoming, which was a rare positive. However, the condition of the rooms was appalling. We had a serious issue with ants crawling everywhere inside backpacks, clothes, beds, and all over the room. Cobwebs and spiders were also present. There was no kettle for coffee in the morning, and the mini fridge barely functioned, with broken shelves that were "repaired" using wooden branches, something we've never seen in a so-called luxury hotel.
Another shocking issue was the lack of drinking water. We were given two small bottles upon arrival and nothing more, which is unacceptable for a 5-star property. The air conditioning was weak and took forever to cool the room. To make matters worse, there were no mosquito nets on the doors, so sleeping with the door open meant being covered in bites by morning.
The hotel grounds were not maintained properly. In the mornings, plastic cups, cigarette butts, and trash were scattered throughout the complex and remained there well into the day. It was also clear that the hotel is understaffed, especially in housekeeping and maintenance.
Parking space was plentiful, which was helpful but sadly, one of the very few things that actually met expectations.
In conclusion, this hotel falls dramatically short of a 5-star standard. At best, it deserves 2 or 3 stars. It’s a shame because with proper management and maintenance, the place has potential. But as it is now, I cannot recommend it and...
