Great holiday! Not a great hotel! We were initially put off by previous reviews however thought surely it can't be that bad!. |However we regret not changing our hotel, from the off set our room although basic and very dated which we could live with, had previously guests belongings including medication left in and the floor in the bedroom had what looked like the contents of a mans electric razor all over the floor, not to mention the durex lubrication which was left in the bedside drawer!! the smell from the toilet was horrendous! We had to leave seat down and door closed. The beds were that bad we had to put blankets on top of mattress to try and make it bearable. Damaged balcony furniture and despite there being a kitchenette there wasn't even a plastic cup to use. Air con- noisy and continuous dripping was only in main area so kids were cold we were dying in the main bedroom. Shower has a vent in the middle of the bathroom floor which the water/ bubbles from shower then came back up and flooded bathroom!|Food breakfast was good however not much variety for lunch & dinner we ate out 5/7 nights due to this which obviously wasn't what we were expecting on an all inclusive holiday! And no snacks bar! Signs up everywhere saying you can't bring your own food down to pool area etc however with kids what do they expect |Area: hotel is in the middle of a main road in the middle of no where! In the distance there was a shop however there are no foot paths so you were literally walking along a very busy road. Hotel offer bus service to beach and local town however not regular and if you miss the bus taxis aren't readily available we waited in a taxi rank for 30mins worried with two kids as the first taxi refused to take us to the hotel so we had to rely on the bus which last pick up was 21:30 - it was a 8 seater and one night had 15 of us in! Otherwise we wouldn't have gotten back |Can't fault the pool area always beds and peaceful the life guard was always there and he was the only member of staff who went round and spoke to everyone. In the whole week we were there we were one of three English families so if your kids like to play and make friends this isn't the right hotel. No entertainment/ no pool games. |Wifi- terrible! They say in communal areas however the only area was reception which even then wasn't strong enough to load Google maps! |Staff were pleasant didn't really try to make any conversation don't know if it was the language barrier but they didn't seem interested they were the same faces and did graft hard didn't get the vibe they were enjoying themselves .|The beach isn't that close it's 10-15 mins down a dusty sandy road opposite the hotel which traffic gets quite busy due to the water park being there. Beach itself was lovely the bar down there does nice food and decent cocktails obviously at a cost but wasn't badly priced. |Ultra all-inclusive if they can call it that was questionable! However if you want to pay then they have a cocktail menu and premium spirits I will attach the drinks menu.|On a whole we took our concerns to the rep & hotel management who sent in additional cleaner, and said we could potentially move however we were on day two and they said it would take at least two days to sort paperwork and we were only there for the week so as an apology from the hotel we received a bowl of fruit & bottle of wine to our room. We had a great holiday however we spent an additional £900 on food & excursions to make this enjoyable.|If it had a bit of TLC and entertainment it could be...
Read moreThe Port Marina Hotel in Pefkohori, located on the Kassandra Peninsula in Chalkidiki, is ideal for those who seeking peace and quiet. The rooms are humble but clean. The furniture is basic, certainly not new. The kitchenette is conveniently located upon entering the room. There's also a fridge with ample storage. Kitchenware is not provided. The beds and mattresses are comfortable, and the pillows are cozy. Entertainment options include exercise machines, board games, and a separate children's play area near the dining room. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for relaxing by the pool. The grounds feature a large olive grove, along which five small buildings are located, creating a unique natural microclimate. The hotel is located along the highway, but thanks to the olive grove and mature palm trees, road noise is virtually inaudible. There is a bar near the pool and another indoors. The food is consistent with a four-star hotel. Breakfast includes vegetables, a standard selection of sausages and cheese, and muesli, milk, cookies and paste . Fruit, delicious pastries, omelets, fried eggs, and a selection of drinks are available. Dinner includes several types of meat, side dishes, soup, and meat and fish salads. Seafood is different every day: shrimp salad or squid rings. We had mussels for one dinner, and fried small fish every other day. A large selection of ice cream is available for lunch and dinner. The beach is about a 10-minute walk away. If you don't want to buy drinks and grab a spot on a sun lounger under an umbrella, the pebble beach is completely free. The sea view is stunning. The hotel has a free minibus that takes guests to the beach or to the center of Pefkohori. The ride is about 5 minutes. A shuttle bus also stops near the hotel upon request. The fare to Pefkohori is 2 euros. Thessaloniki is 112 euros. Pefkohori has several supermarkets with reasonable prices, restaurants, bistros, and bakeries to suit every taste and budget. Salads at the Greek tavern start at 5 euro and more. Meat and fish start at 11 euro. Portions are large. At the end of your meal, you'll be served a pleasant surprise—ice cream or a baking. This tradition is found in all cafes and restaurants. Greeks are sociable and friendly. Almost everyone speaks English. I can only speak highly of the Port Marina Hotel staff. The maids and waiters are charming and tactful. The reception and bar staff are professionals. I wish them many grateful guests. A special thanks to the chefs, who surprise guests not only with the variety of dishes but also cook with passion. Everything is incredibly delicious. I wish the entire hotel team good health, prosperity, and many...
Read moreWe're a childless couple in our late 30s that booked all inclusive in late June (so about 30-32 degrees) and we found the resort to be clean and pleasant with a good Aircon system in the room which also had other useful features like a big fridge with a freezer section and TV with a USB port. It's quite a relaxed and basic hotel, so the kids seemed to gang up together and tried desperately to make their own fun round the pool, which is all they can really do here, other than play ping pong, but the lifeguard generally did a better job than their parents did when the young lads start to get a bit boisterous and annoying round the pool. I'd take earphones down to the pool for that reason, and also because the main road is just outside the complex and the odd motorbike will roar past about 85mph four or five times a day. There were ample food options in the canteen to cater for whatever we fancied that day/meal-time, whether we just wanted a healthy snack, like soup and crusty bread or a plate of salad, cheeses and olives or a full on meal like chicken thighs or moussaka, or beef in sauce with some chips or pasta. Basic but wholesome enough with a fair selection of new options each day. The canteen waiting staff will usually come ask if you'd like a drink (alcoholic or otherwise, so they go get it from the bar for you and bring it to you in the canteen). Otherwise it's Tea/coffee, or concentrated pineapple or orange juice. The beach is about 22min walk away or if you plan for the next two-way shuttle minibus service (provided for free by the hotel) it's only a 5min trip (as long as you're in the first 8/9 people waiting outside the front reception in the car park). There's a dedicated beach area for this hotel, so as long as you don't decide to go on a public Greek bank holiday like we did on our first day, then there's already about 30 sunbeds and umbrellas waiting for you that are actually free to use, with a much cheaper beach bar nearby, to purchase drinks or diner type food from. The free hotel shuttle minibus service also goes to the nearest town Pefkochori, 3 miles West, (which you can't walk to because there's no path, just a busy dual carriage way) but it leads to where all the nice seaside bars and restaurants, arcades and clothes and souvenir shops are, and if you miss one of the hotel shuttle slots to the town, there's taxis that charge about €7 each way and they have a rank near Mario's kebab shop on the main stretch through Pefkochori town for when you want to come back...
