Egnatia City Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Kavala Municipality

I stayed for 5 nights whilst working in Northern Greece in June this year (2025). The Hotel is easy to find, being situated on the extreme west side of the city. The city centre and waterfront is a 5 minute drive further down the road. |Parking is limited but adequate-the spaces are mostly adjacent to the hotel. The hotel itself is quite small and offers a boutique feel-the rooms are well-appointed and clean-the corridors and floors leading to the rooms are up-lit and inviting. |I was warmly greeted by the reception team- they were very helpful-especially (I think I remember the name correctly) Paula and offered a great service-down to keeping an eye on my luggage as I had breakfast on the final morning. |The breakfast is a buffet-style affair, with plenty of everything. Georgia in the downstairs dining room was superb-nothing was too much hassle and I felt well-looked after. Similar story for Dimitrius in the rooftop restaurant. The small kindnesses were appreciated. The a-la-carte menu on offer upstairs catered for all tastes and arrived quickly. |I didn't give the full five stars, as I went to take a few photos overlooking the city at night time from the rooftop, and was promptly barked at by the manager upstairs, who assumed I wanted booze at 1am. When I explained I wanted a picture, not service of any kind (the area is always open and so is accessible even at night), he immediately climbed down and apologised, but the barking had been done at that point. Maybe he'd had a hard night, but it was a little unprofessional, and left a sour taste. |All in all, I was very happy with my stay, and would return. Hopefully lessons in assumption over patience were learned-but one less than perfect interaction in 5 days didn't...

Beautiful view from the hotel overlooking Kavala and great breakfast it has TERRIBLE mattresses. We only brought the issue with the mattresses to their attention. A manager was not available to discuss this on that Friday morning as we were checking out after a two day stay. The two staff at reception clearly not trained properly, threaten to call the police. We were not refusing to pay, but we also couldn’t justify the cost for the amenities we received. A suite shouldn’t have this poor quality of bedding. The two men actually didn’t believe us and said we were too late. Too late for what? We were still there. Luckily I had taken photos and when I showed them the condition of the mattress a another staff member clearly overhearing the long, unpleasant discussion with reception offered a small discount. As we were leaving he asked me to email my photos to the hotel. I agreed but then I asked myself, why? All they have to do, is go see the rooms in person.

The Wifi was weak but that was ok we didn’t need this. You can pay additional money to get high sped WiFi but that’s a little ridiculous these days. We travel all over the world and we prefer a hotel with a pool this is why we selected Egnatia. It wasn’t a cheap hotel and it was surprising that you have to pay separately to access the pool area, but that was ok too. Bathroom full of mildew was unacceptably visible.
