My husband and I booked a one evening stay at this hotel on the evening before on booking.com (Mid Aug 2014). Unfortunately during the early hours of the next morning I was informed of the sudden death of an immediate family member. I waited till 9am (business hours) and called Hotel Philoxenia to advise that we will not be able to stay that night and will be heading straight to Thessaloniki to arrange the funeral. ||||As it had been less than 11 hours since we booked and paid fully online and well before check-in, I assumed that they may have shown some empathy to our situation and provided some form of partial refund. They said they will call back with an answer. Of which they did not. We contacted them 3 futher times on the same day and were still told to wait for a response. ||||Some time later, booking.com informed us that our full booking money was taken and that if we had an issue with this, we should put in a complaint. Of which we did. Hotel Philoxenia, in response chose NOT to give us any form of refund. We are reasonable enough to expect not to receive all the money, but some kindness at a difficult unexpected time would've displayed this so called 'Hospitality'.||||We eventually called them back and asked them why they didn't bother contacted us after their promise to do so. They simply said it was not their issue and bad luck. We understand booking.com terms and conditions, but the final say in this matter was from Hotel Philoxenia and they chose to be unkind.||||If you plan to book with this hotel, just be aware that they will show no respect or compassion if something...

The location is nice, it sits atop a hill with a nice view of the surroundings. It is quiet, away from the city hum.
The reception staff were very friendly, talkative and attentive to my needs. They even offered to show me my room before paying which seems to be very rare nowadays.
But that’s about it. The rooms and the hotel in general were pretty dated and not exactly squeaky clean (although the outside terrace was nice), for example: there were spider webs hanging from the ceiling the shower water smelled like metal the toilet was superficially cleaned there were dead insects on the floor water was not hot and it took an eternity to heat up
The towels and the bed smelled and looked clean, but the rest of the room made me feel like they weren’t clean either.
If you do decide to stay here, make sure the reception show you the room beforehand (I saw it and still accepted because I was in a desperate situation).
To sum it up, I don’t recommend this hotel unless you are really constrained by money and don’t care about cleanliness as...
Read moreWe have been staying in Keramoti for a few years now, as a weekend getaway from our place in Bulgaria, or a stop-over on the way to Thasos. ||We have always stayed at Philoxenia, we chose it the first time because it looked nice and now can't imagine coming to Keramoti and not staying there.||It's a proper Family run hotel, spotlessly clean and all you could want, including free Air Con! The position is perfect as well, if you have a room in the back block, you will most likely have a sea view, as the hotel is on the harbour. ||If you walk for 5 minutes from the back you will find the beach, which is Keramoti's best selling point... it's amazing!||Now the best thing about Philoxenia is the restaurant! The food is simply wonderful, and always good sized meals, my personal favourite is the Grilled Octopus, the best I ever had! The service is warm, friendly and from nearly every table you can sit and watch the blood red sunset, while enjoying a glass of wine.||So will we be back in 2015?...
