ΜΕΝΕS HOTEL — Hotel in Lefkada Municipality

We had a amazing stay at the Menes Hotel. When we booked we didn't want the 5* experience just wanted local real Greece. The price we paid was very cheap so didn't really know what to expect, but compared to the villa two doors down which was £2,300 for 10 days with no swimming pool I decided to book with Menes because the beach/cove looked beautiful and the price was so cheap in comparison. ||Not a 5* hotel but very cheap price tells you this, but I was so surprised I loved this hotel, owners were lovely, genuine and helpful, and quirky. It was really clean, the lady who cleaned our rooms was amazing even though I said she didn't have to clean everyday she did and it was always immaculate when we got back.||We booked this hotel self catering because we wanted to experience all the different food on offer so we always ate in different towns/villages. We did eat at the local tavernas on the beach front including the Menes hotel and food was always lovely and a really good friendly service. ||I really do not understand the negative reviews considering the price they charge, i felt in was a bargain! ||There are lots of amazing beaches in Lefkada and they are heavily promoted, but I can hand on heart say, I stopped looking for them. Nowhere i went was as lovely as Desimi beach, and I loved and looked forward to coming back and going on our beach which was a 30 second walk everyday.. It had amazing snorkelling, the tavernas are lovely and the boat hire place was brilliant and we hired boats/paddle boards and kayaks from them and they were brilliant to deal with and all on the doorstep, no need to travel.||I read the previous reviews with anticipation, but I loved the look of the Desimi so much, I decided to book here anyway. ||I can only assume that people don't want this Gem discovered and I myself was in two minds to leave a review because I want to come back and don't want it to be over touristy, but I had such an amazing time and was looked after so well I have to tell you this place was amazing for the price you pay. My fiance and I just returned from a week at Menes Hotel and it ticked the boxes for us in every way:||- Such friendly and attentive service (nothing was too much trouble and they genuinely wanted us to have a good stay) - especially from the waitresses, Theodora and Marina, and the owners Panagiotis and Nikos were very kind and helpful too ||- Clean and spacious rooms (they were cleaned and clean towels put out every day) with aircon and modern bathroom, balcony with sea view and even a top quality hairdryer!||- Great pool with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for everyone... and even special sun loungers you can take onto the beach with you, what a brilliant idea||- Restaurant served good food||- Marina made the best quality cocktails in the bar ||- Handy shop to buy essentials (saved driving or a long walk to a nearby town) - from personal care items to snorkels and fresh fruit and pastries fresh from the bakery that morning||- Incredible location right on a stunning beach - the water was some of the clearest I've ever swum in and never got choppy, was always calm. It was nicely quiet too... people around but far from being crowded or feeling touristy||- Two great tavernas with stunning sea views within a minute's walk away, one of them served the best fresh seafood I've ever had... I even asked for the recipes for some of their delicious dishes||||We were very content chilling out by the pool and on the beach for most of the week... it was fantastic to have everything in one place, so self-contained and convenient. There are watersports available on the beach (we just didn't get round to it) and I'd also recommend hiring a car (they can arrange this for you) to explore the island - in just one day we felt we took in all the highlights (including Porto Katsiki, Kathisma etc.)||||I highly recommend staying here either as a family, or as a couple. ...

Once again my wife and I returned to the Menes Hotel. ||Two years later no thanks to COID 19; we where well received by Panagotis one of the owners who had a room arranged facing the pool. ||The hotel isn’t 5 star but is quite new and immaculately cleaned. The hotel is family run by Panagotis and Nicos, they have nephews and nieces all working there, Mikey and Lazerath running the restaurant and bar both really genuine and kind people. ||||The hotel is situated in the most beautiful bay “Desemi, from the hotel grounds to the beach it cannot be more than 5m, the beach is made up of sand and shingle and the water is Chrystal clear (perfect for swimming and snorkelling).||||The rooms are cleaned every day and the maid is very thorough, they are so cool and fresh when you arrive after a a hot day around the pool or the beach.||||The restaurant for breakfast is just outside the hotel shop and does a set breakfast that is very filling, fresh yogurt with honey, fruit bread, jam,Ham and cheese.||||The restaurant has a good variety, we took advantage of the daily specials, try the home made starter tzatziki, delicious.||||Hopefully we can return next...
