we visited forestata June 2024 we must have been the first customers of the year. The accommodation was nice, spacious and very clean, room cleaning throughout the week was sporadic. On arrival we were met by an elderly lady and a man who we assumed was her son. He sat us down in the lounge/bar/reception, a very cluttered area and disappeared behind a desk in the corner, left us with a welcome drink of water a couple of apricots (they grow them) a strangely a small plate with some jam (they also make it) hospitality at its finest ha ha After 10 minutes of their huddling in the corner he returned and gave us “our” copy of his menu, which he explained had to be ordered at breakfast, the food and drinks were priced much higher than any of the other local establishments. That had been sitting increasing the prices on their menu. Needless to say we didn’t eat or drink there. The place was overrun with cats. The old lady spent more time feeding them than seeing to the breakfast. They constantly circled your legs while eating, anyone with an allergy beware. We encountered the owner several times during our week and he never said a word to us once again hospitality at its finest. I said we must have been the first guests as when we arrived the grounds we very overgrown and unkempt and it was only towards the end of the week that a gardener appeared managing to strim the the grass/weeds but leaving the cuttings lying everywhere On the day of our departure we went to the reception area to return the keys these were taken by the elderly lady while Mr Greek Hospitality of the year 1976 just sat with his back to us and never said a word Pity ! The accommodation is fine spacious and clean but the managerial skills of the owners need some serious work Don’t think...
Read moreWe booked this stay alredy in winter and got from the owners a very good rate. Email were aswered with some delay - and as we didn't get a final confirmation just 2 days before leaving we called them to be sure everything was okay. We had a studio at first floor and the room was great - large, new, with a kitchen corner, large fridge, bathroom with window and we also had a big terrace for our use with wonderful view over the sea (inner sea) and hills. The garden is also very nice, but needs to be more taken care of. We had dinner there the first day and it was good quality and quantity. The breakfast also was very good with yogurth, homemade jams and marmelade - only cons: wasps, weak coffee (for Italian standards) and above all the time. Breakfast was served starting from 9 am and if you want to visit the island and the beaches it's really too late. We asked to have it before and the lady tried in someway to help us, but in the end we decided to buy something and have it in our room so to be free to leave at any time we wanted. We had to change our room the last day and got one in the mansarda, which was smaller but with better view and above all better mattress! If you are a couple without children we would highly recommend this rooms. In the end it was a good stay, at a good price, but we experienced in Greece warmer welcomes and treatments. By the way, wifi works only outside the rooms and this was...
Read moreOverall, I was satisfied with my stay at Forestata Village. This choice of accommodation is great for those looking for cheaper alternatives, but with everything one needs when exploring the island, as it is in the vicinity of many nice destinations.
Location: Forestata, being situated on top of a hill, offers a nice view of its surroundings, including the sea. For those that choose to stay at Forestata, I recommend renting a car, as not many sights are in walking distance. By car, it is possible to get to Lixouri, and beaches on all sides of the peninsula fairly quickly, usually in around 30 minutes. The way to Argostoli / the airport is around 45-50 minutes.
Accommodation: The appartment/room was spacious, clean, with older furniture and equipment. We've encoutered some technical problems with the toilet (which was fixed by the owners) and the air conditioning (leaking water), but nothing major. The service was good, the room was cleaned every day and towels changed quite frequently.
Breakfast: Forestata also offers breakfast, which is a positive point. There was a selection of cold dishes (bread, salami, cheese, yogurt, jams, etc.), boiled eggs and beverages (juice, lemonade,...
