My girlfriend and I were looking for a convenient weekend getaway from Athens and stumbled upon this hotel on "smallhotelsingreece.com." The drive took about 3 hours from the center of Athens, and we arrived at night on Friday. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Marina and Stefanos, who were equal parts gracious and welcoming. They greeted us with big smiles, and a glass of cold lemonade. They told us about Evia, and its suffering over the last year, and about how difficult it has been psychologically and business-wise. ||||Marina spoke stoically about planting trees at a time when no one is thinking of progress; of stubbornly taking care of the land at a time when many have fled. ||||The property itself is quaint, set high on a hill overlooking the sea and olive trees. The town itself is small, with a handful of restaurants and nearby villages that are nice. Every morning, we were served a lovely breakfast of homemade fares (the usual suspects) alongside fresh coffee and a juice. The hosts were generous with advice (nearby waterfalls, restaurants, hikes) and warm in their hospitality. ||||Eleonas is the classic inn of Greek folklore, the mountain home, the mythic escape — to the looking glass between nature and sea, as if the two were...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Evia Island and I booked Eleonas Hotel as our last 2 night stay before coming home. We saved the best til last. |We received a warm welcome and settled into our very comfortable room with a spectacular view. The silence was striking after staying in a couple of busy resort towns. The hotel is very homely and everything about it encourages you to slow down and relax. Breakfast is a nice selection and served on the veranda with views over the olive grove to the sea. We also appreciated the eco philosophy of preserving resources and recycling wherever possible.|Rovies (about 5 minutes by car) is a small village, but with everything you could need - a number of restaurants and supermarkets. In early September, we had the beach just to the South of town pretty much to ourselves. The water is very clean, but bring beach shoes to aid getting in and out. It is an interesting area to explore and we were given some interesting suggestions for visits and local background information.||We would highly recommend a stay at...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Eleonas Hotel for four nights at the end of June and had a wonderful experience. The hosts were very welcoming and lovely, making us feel right at home. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a gorgeous view that we enjoyed every day.
The hotel is part of a beautiful olive grove, which we absolutely loved. Breakfast was always tasty and fresh, served with an incredible view every morning. Every morning we were pleasantly surprised with very cute & quirky teapots for our tea. The hosts were incredibly helpful, recommending a lovely quiet spot for both dinner and lunch.
One of the highlights of our stay was the olive tasting experience. We learned so much about the estate, the process of making olive oil, and what to look for in high-quality olive oil. In the evenings, we loved sitting outside and looking at the stars. It was a lovely, peaceful place to stay where you could really switch off.
Overall, our stay at Eleonas Hotel was delightful, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and...
