Boy, we really loved so many things about this place. The 3 stars is for the accommodations only. The unit needs serious work. The bathroom is so small, and have the look of poor construction and workmanship. The faux concrete look in the bathroom makes it just gross and was not good and looked terrible and dirty in our unit. I actually thought maybe our bathroom was being remodeled until I asked. I was told it's suppose to look this way. There were cracks in the ceiling, and there was poor patching fixes on the ceiling from previous cracks. The caulking job was awful around the toilet. The shower is so small and does not work and my guess is water is often hitting the ceiling or flooding out of the shower itself. The bathroom has no fan so when you close the door you're dripping sweat when you come out. We kept the door open to tolerate this better. The entire unit ended up smelling like whatever was happening in the bathroom. There is no lighting or mirror for to apply make-up or do your hair, I was not interested in spending more time than I needed to in the bathroom. There is no place to put your clothes in the unit itself other than a closet area or your suitcase. There is a little old looking white fridge sitting on the floor. The only furniture is that and a desk and chair (that scratches up the floor) everything else is built into the unit itself. Such as a bed platform and side tables. There is a lengthwise mirror on the wall, and a giant blue pot, that is there for cosmetic reasons only. These are not five star accommodations, not even close. It's a shame there is so much that is five star about Karma Minoan but the units themselves don't measure up. What is five star is the staff, Anna, Georgia, George, and housekeeping, They are so wonderful and make the resort what it is, and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need or want. Without them we would have moved to a hotel. The view is crazy good from every unit, and the pool looks very inviting. The grounds generally are wonderful. Most evenings we wanted to turn the air off and open the door and window and enjoy the ocean breeze. But, we could not do this because there are no screens. The restaurant was great, and we thought reasonable in price. The social happy hours were fun and made it so you talked to people when you ran into them around the resort. We had a great trip. But, the accommodations in the unit itself just did not measure up and I expected much better after reading all the five star reviews. There is no reason for Karma not to put into their units thoughtful, five star quality furniture, decoration, and...
Read moreI arrived no more than 24 hours ago for a short stay of 2 nights. Before my time has finished I just wanted to talk to someone who would listen to the joy I feel for my short hours here.
On arrival, of which I was late, the staff had put aside a complimentary selection of local foods and tasty wines to accolade my presence at their hotel. Into the night they continued to share stories with me about their hotel and surrounding areas, Greek myths, and local stories to satisfy my eager appetite for my short adventure. The GM, bless him, staying back a lil later, was kind enough to sit with me and share further insights into the evening.
When returning to my room, constructed in the early 70's, I was blown away by the articulation of the room design, modern, yet oldy worldy, clean, well presented, and a selection of books that seemed as if they'd asked me exactly what I wanted to read during my short stay.
After sharing some local wine and stories, I folded. Waking to a celebration of colour out my window and then again at the buffet breakfast. Local fine foods, still continental and english-y but satisfying my desire for a Greek feeling to my dining.
I've been down the beach all day, a literal 4 minute walk from Karma Minoan to pristine water and clean Mediterranean beaches to return to a clean room, everything where it was when I left the room in the morning, clean presentation, white sheets, and soft pillows to rest my sunburnt skin before hitting the beautiful pool for happy hour.
I'm grateful that I was recommended this place for a short stay. With a little over a week to go, I'll be heading to reception after my snooze to rebook my last few days on Crete with this resort. Well done GM and staff, for hosting us and making...
Read moreMy wife and I recently (17th-23rd July) had the pleasure of staying at this hotel and I must say, our experience was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. Their professionalism was matched only by their friendliness, and I felt welcomed from the start.
While the hotel is located about 50 minutes from Heraklion Airport, the remote location only adds to the charm. The cost-effective option of renting a car is definitely worth it, as it allows you to explore all the beauty the island has to offer. We found ourselves out and about for most of the day, and the room served as a cozy and comfortable retreat for sleeping at night.
The only small issue we encountered was with the positioning of the air conditioning unit, which unfortunately faced the wall and prevented it from cooling the entire room (Galene). However, this didn't detract from the overall experience.
Speaking of the room, we were lucky enough to have an ocean view. The sight of the waves crashing against the shore each morning was incredibly relaxing and meditative, and definitely contributed to our overall sense of calm and relaxation.
After six nights, we were sad to leave this little slice of heaven. The romantic and memorable experience we had here will stay with us for a long time. While we didn't have a chance to use the pool facilities, we did appreciate the convenience of the free parking.
Overall, we highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, rejuvenating getaway. The staff, the location, and the atmosphere all add up to create an unforgettable vacation. Thank you for your generosity,...
