We have come back from staying here for a week, totally amazed. Greg our host was simply amazing, wine & fresh fruit, the cave villas feel like you are on the set of a James Bond movie in a stunning remote location, yet still nearby to the one of cretes best roads for exploring the Islands finest holiday secrets. The silence in the mountains is awesome, watching the large birds spiral across the valley. With the mountain town of Spili just 7 mins drive away. Yes you need a car hire for food shopping and visiting nearby restaurants, taverna’s and beaches. But because its in such a central location, there is so much to reach nearby, for example Rethimno’s old town 20 mins. From the moment we arrived at the villa, we were blown away by the beauty of the property. It’s spotless, stylish, and perfectly located for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The views were breathtaking, the amenities were top and every little detail had been thoughtfully considered.
But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the host. Not only were they welcoming and attentive, but they also provided us with the best curated list of local food and drink spots in the area. We had such a great stay at Neromai Cave.
Views are just outstanding; we got into a perfect groove of spending the morning and early afternoon relaxing by the pool, then heading 20 minutes south to the excellent beaches. The pool was generous in size and a lovely, crisp temperature in mid May; the sea was very swimmable too ie a pleasant temperature even that early in the season. Greg was a brilliant host and we really enjoyed a couple of his taverna recommendations, especially Pyrgos. There’s so much choice in the local area and we found a few great value, incredibly good tavernas for vine leaves, stuffed peppers, souvlaki etc.
The villa was clean, spacious and well designed. Did I mention the view?!
