This is a mixed camping/hotel site and we stayed in one of the new(ish) apartments for almost two weeks before moving on to a more 'energetic' place. ||Fournia does what it does pretty well. The apartment we had (1 bedroom) was very spacious, much larger than we have had in more expensive places, and contained an oven, fridge, cooking utensils, TV etc. it also had a balcony. We slept in the bedroom and out daughter in one of the two sofa-beds in the main room. Bed a bit hard but....||The place looked brand new and I way amazed to find that it was at least 4 years old. It has been extremely well-maintained. ||Towels/cleaning was every other day.||the mini-market was OK, but ran out of its supply of fresh doughnuts and tyropita very early in the morning. ||There is a baby pool and a smallish main pool. The latter was essentially empty in the morning and it seemed everyone was at the beach, but got rather full in the late afternoon as the prevailing wind made the sea rather rough at this time.||There is a bar at the pool and another by the restaurant. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner (we only ate there in the evening) and provided a limited range of well-cooked food - burgers, pastitsio, other pasta, schnitzel, calamari, Greek salad, oven-cooked meat etc. ||The view from the restaurant and the bar is unbelievably stunning, looking west over the sea to Zakinthos and Kefalonia. Sadly, whilst we are there is also gave a good (but safe) view of the numerous fires raging on these islands. ||There are 126 (I counted!!) steps down to the beach, so this is NOT for the mobility impaired. Getting down was OK, but after a few hours playing on the beach getting up was more of a challenge!||The beach itself is great for kids as is slopes downwards very gently. There a good deal of seaweed, but this is easy avoided. ||We found it really easy to relax here, especially as the wi-fi was more or less non-existent. As in many other hotels, the connection to the routed was great, but the link from there onwards was at best extremely slow. However, this helped us switch-off from the pressures of work.||So. A cheap place, basic but clean, well-maintained and good at what it does. ||We intend...
Read moreWe booked a big apartment for 3 nights. We had friends with kids staying at the camping part of it and more friends with kids staying at a bungalow. This is a fantastic place for kids, as it is all enclosed and kids can run around freely. There is a big swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar and you can walk down to the beach. There are quite a bit of steps that one can feel for sure going back up. Although the water is fine, the sea has taken over most of the beach so there is not a lot of it left. It is pretty narrow.||||Although there is free Wi-Fi it does not work from everywhere. I had none in our room, my best choice was at the bar before everybody would start rolling in.||||Our apartment was new, clean and very big. We had a separate bedroom with a dresser, a good size closet and a nice A/C unit.||||The open plan living room, kitchen area was big and had a separate A/C unit. There were ample kitchen cabinets, a full size fridge, a table with chairs, a couch and a couple of armchairs. The balcony had a table and chairs and an umbrella for shade. The screens at the balcony door were great for keeping insects out. We were looking at the pool and if the plant by our balcony was trimmed a bit, I would call it sea view also!||||If you don't mind driving a little, there are a lot of great beaches in the vicinity. And if you don't feel like moving at all, with the mini market, the restaurant and the bar, you could probably cover all your...
