Kymothoi Rooms & Pool Bar — Hotel in Municipality of Andros

We booked late and the cheapest room for a one night stay to be close to the port and our early ferry. Our expectations given the price we paid (very cheap) were not high. It is in no way a luxury or destination hotel. It is basic, rough around the edges, not all that clean nor well maintained (see below) and for those without a car, not conveniently close to the port (about 1.5km away) and up a very steep hill meaning most people would struggle/will need to rely on taxis. But that said, we actually really liked it. After having stayed at a few "better" more stylised properties, we found it refreshingly honest/simple with very friendly and helpful staff and that together with the price is why we have given it a "good" rating despite all of its issues. The view is also a real positive.||||Things to note:||||1. The standard rooms are very small and basic and functional. You have a bed, a cupboard, small TV and a small fridge. No kettle etc. though one was provided on request as we were leaving early the next morning and could not make the breakfast service.||||There is nowhere comfortable to sit inside. You have a small couch in front of your room along a wide communal balcony - it comes however with really great views over the port. The bathroom is dated and functional and our toilet did not work. The air conditioning was good but ours leaked badly. ||||As neither of the problems with our room could be fixed we were moved to another room which was the grade up from ours and better in that the room was larger (although the bathroom was smaller) and the outdoor area was shared with only one other (the neighbouring) room.||||In both rooms, the wifi worked fine.||||Interestingly, there is a certificate in the cupboard regarding pest control undertaken in the rooms. We hadn't come across this elsewhere and thought it was a positive to see it.||||2. The property is up a steep hill and stairs must be negotiated to reach any of the rooms and the reception area.||||3. We had to leave before breakfast so cannot comment on it. The staff were however quite pained not to be able to at least give us something to take with us. Generally the staff were very helpful and this left a really good positive impression on us. Breakfast is served around the pool area (we did not use the pool) which is nicely done and maintained.||||Ultimately and already said, this is the kind of hotel that harks back in our experience to the era (around 20 or so years ago) when the hotels on Greek islands were almost all quite basic, functional and just did what they say on the tin, albeit with a nod to what travellers now want in the sense of wifi and an okay range of TV channels. But having experienced over the years (and during the same trip) plenty of hotels that promise (and charge) more but actually give nothing additional (i.e. what they give more is superficial), we left feeling far more content. ||||We'd return for a...

Αν και είχα αποφασίσει να μη γράψω πολλά....να με συγχωρήσετε αλλά το χέρι μου πάει μόνο του στο πληκτρολόγιο!από πού να ξεκινήσω?ένας νοήμων άνθρωπος θα καταλάβει τι θα συναντήσει με το που περάσει τη κύρια πύλη του ξενοδοχείου!ξεκινώντας θα μιλήσω γ την εγκατάλειψη π είδα στον εξωτερικό χώρο!συντριβάνια που έχουν γίνει σκουπιδότοποι καθώς δεν υπάρχει νερό μέσα...ξαπλώστρες βρώμικες π ούτε να τις κοιτάξει δε μπορούσες.. πόσο μάλλον να κάτσεις!λάμπες να κρέμονται..κουτιά πυρασφάλειας σάπια πεταμένα κάτω..κ προς θεού δεν είναι ανάγκη να πάτε στη πίσω μεριά του δεύτερου ορόφου!φεύγω απ' το εξωτερικό χώρο!δεν θα σχολιάσω ούτε τις πόρτες των δωματίων γτ θα ξεχάσω να γράψω αλλά πιο σημαντικα!πάμε στο δώματιο....εδώ παιδιά να πω ένα μεγάλο μπράβο στο φωτογράφο του οποίου η δουλειά πρέπει να βραβευτεί!με τα τέλεια φίλτρα του κάλυψε μουχλες..ξεχαρβαλωμενες ντουλάπες..σπασμένα πλακάκια στο μπάνιο..βρώμικες λεκάνες απ' το στάσιμο νερό π μένει το χειμωνα!η μούχλα του δωματίου είχε 'πλακωθει'με ένα κιτρινο χρώμα μόνο π κ πάλι ήταν εμφανής!το μπανιο είχε ένα καραβισιο παράθυρο ..το οποίο πρέπει να το έφεραν κατευθείαν απ' τη θάλασσα καθώς δεν εξηγείται αλλιώς η βρώμα π έχει πανω!αν ήταν λαμπικο θα τανε ιδανικό καθώς το ξενοδοχείο βασίζεται σε ναυτικό στυλ!η ντουζιέρα είχε διαρροή στο καλώδιο με αποτέλεσμα να κάνουμε κ δεύτερο μπάνιο βγαίνοντας από αυτή!γ τη λεκάνη..δε το συζητάμε καν! γυρνώντας τη Δευτέρη μέρα απ' τη θάλασσα βλέπω πως σε μια γωνιά υπάρχουν μυρμήγκια..3-4 ήταν..τα πάτησα κ οκ..δεν ασχολήθηκα άλλο γτ κ εγώ από χωριό είμαι 'συμβαινουν αυτα' σκέφτομαι!που να ξερά η καημένη??την επόμενη μέρα ανοίγω τη βαλίτσα κ βλέπω πάνω στα ρούχα Μ μυρμήγκια!με επιασαν τα κλάματα!έβγαλα τη βαλίτσα έξω..κ τη καθαρισα τιναζο τάε όλα Μ τα ρούχα! ξεκινώντας γ τη ρεσεωιον..συναντάω ένα παιδάκι το Γιώργο...καλή του ώρα!του εξηω τι είχε συμβεί κ ήρθε αμέσως κ έριξε φάρμακο στη τρύπα από όπου έβγαιναν!εδώ να πω πολλά μπράβο σε αυτό το παιδί π έκανε ότι καλύτερο μπορούμλσε γ να έχουμε μια ευχάριστη διαμονή.. πράγμα αδύνατο!υπόψιν..παρακολουθώντας παρατηρήσα πως όλα περνάνε απ' τα χέρια αυτού του παιδιού...καθαριότητες μέσα κ εξω,πρωινά, πισίνα,τα πάντα μα τα πάντα τα κανει αυτό το παιδί!τα συγχαρητήρια Μ κ πάλι!την επόμενη μέρα πάλι τα ίδια με τα μυρμήγκια λπν.. μόνο π αυτή τη φορά προνόησα κ έκλεισα τη βαλίτσα!δεν ασχολήθηκα άλλο καθώς αντιλήφθηκα αμέσως ότι δεν θα βγαζα άκρη...απλά περίμενα να περάσουν οι μέρες να φύγω!το πρωινό πλούσιο αλλά εκτεθειμένο στον ήλιο κ στις σφηκες..οι κανάτες καλυμμενες με ζελοφαν..πόσο δύσκολο να πάρουν κανάτες με καπάκι γ να αποφύγουν τις σφήκες?έτσι λπν...βλέπω μια σφήκα μέσα στο γιαούρτι..το ανέφερε του ιδιοκτήτη κ την έβγαλε ο ίδιος μόνο π το γιαούρτι δεν αλλάχτηκε ποτέ!1+2 μέρα έφαγα 2 φρυγανιές με βουρακια κλείσατε γ ασφάλεια...τις άλλες 2 τρέχαμε σε φούρνους!δεν γντν να φας έτσι...χυμοί κ γάλατα στον ήλιο???όλα υτα αλλοιώνονται όταν μένουν στη ζέστη..πόσο μυαλό χρειάζεται γ να το καταλάβεις? πραγματικα μετανιώνω...εκτός απ' τα λεφτά π έδωσα.. μετανιώνω π δεν έψαξα καλύτερα γ το συγκεκριμένο ξενοδοχείο!θα πω ξανά ένα ευχαριστώ στο Γιώργακη....ένα μπράβο στο φωτογράφο κ τα φιλτρα του κ ένα τεράστιο λυπάμαι στον ιδιοκτήτη (ο οποίος φαντάζομαι πως το χει νοικιάσει γτ δε μπορώ να εξηγήσω αλλιώς αυτή την αδιαφορία τ) που έχει το καλύτερο ξενοδοχείο στο Γαύριο κ το έχει παρατημένο έτσι!το θέμα δεν είναι τόσο στη καθαριότητα παιδιά..υπάρχει πρόβλημα απ' τα θεμέλια του ξενοδοχείου καθώς γντ ένα τυπικό πλακωμα καθες σεζόν γ να δουλέψουν τα δωμάτια!κριμα...

We visited the "hotel" in August 2016 and unfortunately we stayed very disappointed. I believe that the hotel was first built around 1970s and the owners have just painted the walls and the furniture white and that's all. It's a shame because the facilities have great potential and the owners could have made it an excellent place.||We were 4 people and therefore we booked two rooms. The one at the ground floor was despicable. The bathroom window overlooks the ... laundry room and generally the room makes you feel like in prison. The window has no curtains and therefore people passing by can see you. Additionally, there are no clothes racks.||The rooms were superficially clean while the common areas were dirty. No need to mention that nobody used the pool.||The breakfast was also despicable. Plenty of ants around the bread, the milk was left in the sun, .......||However, I would like to mention that the owner offered to carry us...
