Driving to hotel Fiori following a week of sailing, I was worried - Gouvia not being the prettiest place ever with the impact of us humans showing badly. However, turning into Hotel Fiori felt like arriving at a little paradise. There were trees and beautiful surroundings everywhere you looked, lovely pool area and building. We were extremely lucky to be on the third floor as our room seemed to be brand new and tastefully furnished. Spacious, air conditioned, big balcony with pool views and with immaculate furnishings, and a fridge to use. It was all very clean throughout the hotel. The views were stunning in the day and in the starry night. We were thrilled. We found the staff incredibly nice and friendly as well as professional, there was a relaxed atmosphere and we felt very welcome. We loved Foxes who is the dog and star of the hotel and who is very loved by his owners. There was one thing that brought down the rating of Fiori though and that was the catering. The breakfasts are not good, plenty available but nothing of quality, processed cheese and meat, tinned peaches and orange squash instead of juice. I had asked ahead for gluten free and decaff which I was told could be done, but actually there was nothing for me so I had to take my own rice cakes to breakfast which felt disappointing. There was some decaff basic nescafe coffee which is not nice. We also did see the owner getting a little 'Fiori'ous with some of his staff which was a shame. The young men running the bar were doing a lovely job and were very polite so I didn't like to see them scolded. None of these things ruined our stay though, we really loved the hotel overall, we hired a brilliant scooter from Anthony's hire Co and had the best fun exploring the island and visiting the old town every night, we even made it up to the monastery. The immediate location is very scruffy and not great, but with the scooter we quickly and easily got to the more unspoiled parts of corfu, and, to be fair, all the places on the island we saw where people live and work were a mess. We were probably lucky in staying when the other people staying at the hotel were polite and quiet so there was nothing irksome to bother us. I must say we did not eat an evening meal at Fiori but we saw others have good looking plates of food. Thank you to all the lovely...
Read moreWe stayed here for 11 days with our 2-year old son and we really enjoyed our stay. We can recommend this hotel to everyone!||||Outside:||The hotel has a nice and quiet location but not remote. There is a very nice courtyard with a swimming pool that is well maintained. Everything looks really good with the palm trees, grass patches and good pool beds and umbrellas. It feels a bit like a small resort but then with a much better price and atmosphere.||||Rooms: ||The room was spacious enough and there was plenty of cupboards and drawers to put your stuff. Everything is kept really clean, the cleaners do a very good job. The room had a nice balcony with a very good view. Only downside was the shower, which was not so comfortable. It had a holder that was not stable so you needed to hug the wall to stand under the shower. Also the temperature was very unstable we had to adjust it often.||||Location:||The hotel is close to Gouvia but not at walking distance! So don't even think about staying here without a rental car or scooter! But as long as you have that it's fine, there are plenty of touristic places at driving distances.||Gouvia is a nice tourist town with good restaurant options. The beach is not really good so it's better to go to other beaches for that. The location is close to the airport. ||||Staff:||The staff was really friendly and they are always happy to help you. They even arranged a water boiler for our room because we wanted to drink tea in the evening!||||Food:||We only had breakfast here. It was decent. Some things were of good quality (greek yoghurt, eggs), other things not so much (for example the coffee and orange juice). It's nice that they constantly make freshly baked eggs. However for us, some variation would have been nice (serving some different things on different days).||||Downsides: (these three point could make it a 5-star for us)||- Better WiFi||- More comfortable showers with better temperature control||- More...
Read moreThe hotel is remote...which I'm sure people are aware of before booking it so I am surprised at the low review score because of this. If you want to be in the city centre then you pay those prices. This hotel is tucked out of the way. It is quiet. You can access the beaches, airport, town centre, water parks etc using the public buses. Yes you have to walk to get to a bus stop but for goodness sake, it is less than a mile. We did not need a car!|||The receptionists, bar staff, breakfast restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The food on an evening was good with hot, home cooked meals rather than reheated stuff.|||The rooms were small but kept clean. We had a nice balcony which helped dry out swimming stuff on an evening. The beds were comfy and the mini fridge was helpful to have. |||As we had a room near reception, there was a bit of noise on an evening of people coming in and banging doors but this can't be helped. |||I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful break.|The older man (manager/owner?) shouting at the bar staff on a frequent basis was very distressing for children to see and hear. Not sure why he couldn't just have a quiet word with them if there was a problem rather than displaying his aggression in front of guests trying to have a lovely holiday experience. We nicknamed him Shouty man because he was doing it every day that we were there.||I hope he reads the reviews and sees how many people have noticed and commented on him shouting at the staff. Please stop doing it, it can be scary for children or...
