We booked very last minute with Spyros due to COVID-19, and He was lovely and communicated very quickly. He even accommodated our wish to split our stay between the bigger suite and a family room. We stayed in this magical place and had a fabulous week as a family. Here’s our review: |1. Location- perfect! Best location from which we could reach every place on the island with a 10-40 min drive. This meant we can enjoy this peaceful place and with a short drive get to the most beautiful beaches , villages and towns. ( it is only 5km from western beaches) |2. Swimming pool- perfect! Well maintained, comfy sunbeds, size of pool great, unbelievable views , lovely toilet and shower facility, enough shade and even a hammock. Felt like our own private pool due to its size and layout. |3. Rooms - the suite was very comfy and had a balcony overlooking the pool with a fig tree that we enjoyed throughout our stay. The bathroom is slightly dated but working. The only downside is that only the master bedroom has air conditioning and the other parts have a ceiling vent that just moves hot air around. It was a struggle to sleep in the second bedroom in the August heat...|The family room is a refurbished unit with lovely deco and walk in shower. However, once again only the master bedroom has air conditioning. |4. Facilities- WiFi is available only at the reception area, it’s not great although it’s free. Should be made clear that the rooms don’t have WiFi. Cleaning service is daily and brilliant. Parking is free and there is plenty of it. Drinks trust payment list- lovely idea! |5. Meals- beautiful dinner cooked by Spyros’s wife and was lovely. However we paid half the price when eating out in restaurants. Breakfast- not good value for money. Usually you would pay around £5 per person for a full breakfast and here we had a small continental breakfast at €12 per person. I wouldn’t recommend having meals in the hotel unless you must. |6.Staff- this is a family owned and run business. Alex, Spyros’s son is running the show and is very helpful.|7. Setting- perfect. Heavenly set within olive trees, fig trees and lemon trees ( probably other kinds too!) overlooking mountains and valleys and you can even hear the sound of goat herds... ||To conclude- |If you don’t mind the lack of full air conditioning and WiFi range, this is heaven. Since we have teenagers, those two elements could have been...
Read moreThis is an exceptional place. Not quite a hotel, although breakfast and dinner can be provided by arrangement. This old Venetian hilltop farm has been in the family for many decades, if not centuries. There are ample grounds with many nooks and crannies for those seeking a quiet time. We had the advantage of having the place to ourselves at the beginning of the season. There is a very pleasant pre-breakfast walk to the monastery around 1Km away, and a seat just right for catching the evening sun and admiring the irises. The accommodation is spacious and well designed with an exceptional bathroom - overhead and hand shower, wet room style. Kitchen is minimally equipped but enough to cook a simple meal. Our bungalow in a converted block had a large bedroom (with large bed) and a kitchen / dining room with TV and sofas. All windows have insect screens. The kitchen opens on to a large courtyard with sun loungers. Lots to discover, and the hosts are are friendly and helpful. For fans of The Durrells, Fundana was the location for many of the scenes in the 1987 film version of My Family and Other Animals! And yes, there are a couple of olive presses in the dining room. Food is freshly cooked and good. Not quite sure about the local wine. Maybe a bit overpriced for quality - but it is produced with the Fundana grapes, together with those of the neighbours. I think the website slightly undersells the place, and would strongly recommend a stay there as a part of an...
Read moreLovely, comfortable studio apartment, a perfect blend of old and atmospheric, with stylish and contemporary convenience.||The floor in our room was made of the old 19th century bricks, stamped with maker's mark! And really old beams on the ceiling - it felt a part of history. Yet the bathroom was super-trendy, clean and light, with rain-head shower. Our wardrobe even lit up inside when you opened it! (I want one of those now!).||There were flyscreens on all the windows, so you could sleep with windows open, or AC to sleep with them closed.||The lovely breakfast (reasonable extra charge) was in the main house, so atmospheric, right next to the old olive press, and was enough to keep you going for the entire day.||Just wandering around the grounds felt like exploring the history of rural Corfu. They even have the names of their former cows on a plaque on the wall.||Spyros the owner is so friendly and helpful, and an absolute mine of information. We genuinely enjoyed meeting him and felt privileged to spend time in the beautiful B&B that he has spent many years making from what used to be his family farm.||I can't recommend it...
