We are two couples from just outside Edinburgh and celebrated a 60th, a 59th Birthday and a 35yrs Anniversary while there. It was fantastic. It had everything you would wish for from a home from home including extra sun, views, tavernas and beautiful people. The owners father 'Haris' made us very welcome and never came empty handed when popping in to make sure we had everything we needed. He brought wine, raki, fruit, cakes and more, helped us light our barbeque and even brought his wife 'Maria' to meet us and have a little celebration drink. Very lovely family! Cannot fault the place at all. It is 2KM from the beach but seems much further if you had to walk up the hill each day but we hired a car which I think is essential for the Villa location. There are quite a few Tavernas just down the hill which were absolutely fab with great food . Every time you finished your meal and asked for the bill it came with a raki and a cake or mousse so no need to order pudding anywhere. Such a delightful gesture! Down the street had lovely shops and eating places and you could sit in a lounge and people watch with a beer in hand for hours. The beach has lovely little eating places and a view to enjoy when having a drink or a meal. We went to Elofonisia beach which is a must. Absoulutely beautiful. The roads to get there are an experience but the views of the mountains and the sea makes it all worth while. I would recommend the Villa and the area and give it five stars as it has everything you could wish for in a holiday! Will...
Read moreWell, where do I start. This place is absolutely gorgeous. All the facilities are what you would expect from a high end villa. Air con , swimming pool, washing facilities , multiple bathroom and showers. There seems to be no end to the hot water available. There were five of us staying here and we had ample hot water and loads of towels. The individual room air-conditioning is a lifesaver in the high temperature September we had. Large bedrooms with loads of storage space and three safety deposit boxes. But the big secret here is the host Harris. This guy made our holidays. We sat and drank Raki and ate pears from the trees in the garden. He left us fresh bread each morning and was a joy to chat to any day we met him. He helped us plan trips around Crete and recommended places for us to go and see. His wife is a charming lady and made us feel like family. I wish we met people like this many times before. Highly recommend the Meliades villas in Crete. You need a car to get around but we knew this before we booked and hired from Chania airport for the duration of our visit. It gave us great freedom to explore but also allowed us the privacy afforded by the accomodation . I hope you get to experience this place . I had the holiday of MY...
Read moreWe had a really nice time here. 2 families with kids in the 3 rooms villa. The site has 3 villas, each has a pool and private area, sharing just the entrace road. The main bedrooms were big, each having a double bed plus an expendable couch, enough for 2 adults and 1 kid. Beside the 2 main bedrooms there is another bedroom with 2 single beds. There are 2 bathrooms, one at the ground floor, one at the first floor. On the ground floor there is a living room with a corner being a full kitchen with everything you need to cook breakfast/lunch/dinner. There is also a terrace outside with a big table unde some shade where you can eat or relax by the pool. The pool is big enough, 1.50m depth the adults part and 0.60m the kids part. The owned is a very nice man and he did everything to assure we have a nice time at his place. By car it take 5 minutes to get to the main street in Agia Marina and 25min to Chania. I really enjoyed this place, the view is also very nice. I hope i will...
