Don’t expect comfort or luxury but if you are looking for the best crystal beach and the real genuine hospitality you will be surprised.||This place has different souls at different hours: we chose the solitary and romantic ones:||Early in the morning we admired the dawn from our balcony and after we enjoyed to be the first to swim among the jumping fishes in the most clear waters of the Mani peninsula. ||Breakfast was simple but with some personal touches such as warm croissants, fresh fruit, Greek pancakes “tiganites” and incredibly thick yoghurt that you could cut with a knife. ||Around 10 a.m. many other visitors come to put their umbrellas and chairs on the shore because this bay and its rounded stones are protected and the owners have no permission to have an organized beach. ||Meanwhile, at the pool bar the music starts and many young boys and girls start to play ball in the sea water pool. ||This to us was the time to plan our daily tour of this incredible region. There is so much to see: Cave Dyrou, Gytheio, Mavrovouni, Limeni, Karavostasi, Gerolimena, Porto Kagio , Aeropoli , Kotronas, Skoutari and all the medieval towers in the villages around.||Usually we returned after 5 p.m to have a refreshing drink under the trees and play “tavli” a kind of backgammon waiting for the sunset. ||When the visitors started to gather their beach towel we knew that it was our happy hour. The music at the pool bar become softer and we prepared us to our second romantic swimming until we remained the last two persons in the water.||At dinner time is very quiet again and pleasantly fresh. There was not a large choice of dishes but they were prepared at the moment while we were under the light of the moon and the stars.||We have some suggestions for next guests: bring plastic shoes to walk on the pebble beach because it is quite difficult, be prepared to climb stairs and ask for a sea view room.||We have some suggestions for the friendly owners too: more attention to maintenance, bathroom first and possibly a safe in the wardrobe to put money while you are swimming. ||Internet is still a problem because in this part of the region come from the satellite and not by cable. The owners kindly offered us to use the personal hot spot on their phones but if you are a manager and even on holiday you have to receive or send mails, this generous solution is not enough.||Overall was a genuine...
Read moreA tranquil oasis hidden away in a stunning cove surrounded by mountains. We loved it here and are so sad to leave after 7 days. It’s also a great value for money (€64 a night in July for a small homely double room with a large balcony offering a gorgeous sea view and includes breakfast for two) A lovely place especially if you want to get away from hustle & bustle of main tourist hubs and if you’re on holiday with children- there were so many little kids playing all day long and most guests are Greek which makes it more authentic. This place attracts a very friendly crowd. Definitely not a place for party people- no entertainment nearby apart from a good selection of authentic Greek tavernas about 7 mins drive south or 20 mins up the mountain. The resort is quaint small beautiful and very peaceful with traditional small Greek stone houses nicely spread out. The staff couldn’t be any nicer - a small team was so helpful, smiley and friendly at all times. They made us feel very welcome! It has its own private beach right by the pool /bar with the clearest bluest water I’ve ever seen. Bring your own beach towels or buy some in Areopoli. You need to hire a car to get here and the resort only serves breakfast and drinks (till 8pm). The breakfast is not my favourite although it’s lovely that they bring it to your room with fresh coffee or you can have it by the pool - there lots of tables and comfy outdoor sofas in the shade. However it’s the same box every day and I got a bit bored of it by the end. My less-fussy boyfriend was ok with it. But if you’re hard-to-please like me, you can get your own breakfast bits from a nearby shop- fridges in rooms will keep it fresh. We loved it here and would happily return! I would also recommend a lunch at the stunning seaside taverna called Alypa nearby - but only open till 8pm. Enjoy a quiet relaxing break in this picturesque family-orientated hidden gem away from rowdy SPF-dodging Brits abroad chugging beer from noon (we are from London but don’t shy away from National stereotypes.) PS: I couldn’t believe that some people gave this resort such poor ratings, that’s objectively unfair unless you expected Four Seasons or Ibiza party vibes. People just...
Read moreVery good location. Crystal clean water and private beach. The room was ok, relatively clean. The pool was clean. Unfortunately the service was really poor. Swarms of bees and wasps everywhere during breakfast. No buffet for breakfast. The waiter would bring a disc at the table containing half a cup of french coffee,a slice of bread, one piece of fried dough, one boiled egg and a slice of ham and cheese plus one small portion of honey and jam per person.. For this pathetic excuse of breakfast the waiting time was between 20 minutes up to 1 hour. The same goes for lunch(50 minutes for 2 steaks and a salad). No menu available, salty prices (no salt, pepper or napkins on the table). The main problem though was the utter lack of precautions against covid. NOT ONE of the staff wore any masks,no hand sanitizer was available on the tables or anywhere. The tables were never cleaned, they simply replaced the paper tablecloths when they finally decided to serve you. It's a real shame that this beautiful facility in an idyllic location is seriously understaffed and no matter how eager and polite Aggeliki, the owner, was she can't compensate for all...
