Elpidis Villa — Hotel in Municipality of Festos

See our first review from last year. As promised we returned and had an even more fabulous time. Our host and his Parents go out of their way to make you so welcome and become "one of their people!". The only downside for some people might be the actual resort which is totally Greek. We loved it, again! People so friendly and such high quality food, service and exceptionally good value for eating out. There are 2 lovely "tourist" resorts close by if you want to have the conventional Tourist experience, and we would highly recommend that you hire a car to get around and for travel to and from the airport, which is around an hour and 20 minutes drive. The resort of Agia Galini is very pretty and well worth a visit, I am just finding great difficulty thinking of next years holiday and may well find ourselves back in Holiday...

Siamo stati a Villa Elpidis a settembre con la mia famiglia. La prima impressione è stata buona, ma presto ci siamo accorti di tutte le cose che non andavano: la posizione su Google non era corretta, infatti non era possibile andare al mare a piedi. Inoltre la strada non ha marciapiede e le macchine corrono veloci. le camere sono separate dalla cucina con una porta che ha sempre bisogno della chiave per essere aperta. Questa è una grande seccatura, soprattutto se si è in tanti a vivere la casa Elpidis, il proprietario, non è stato proprio un padrone di casa ideale: OGNI GIORNO veniva a controllare, senza preavviso la casa entrando in giardino dove magari noi stavamo prendendo il sole, senza nemmeno suonare il campanello o avvertire. Non ci ha fatto MAI sentire a nostro agio e addirittura veniva a controllare gli asciugamani, le finestre e le portefinestre dei balconi ( che non potevano mai rimanere aperte anche se noi eravamo in casa), la piscina, ecc. Ad un certo punto, esasperati per la continua pressione, avevamo quasi pensato di cambiare alloggio, se non fosse stato per il pagamento anticipato dell'intero soggiorno. Ho lavorato con i turisti per lungo tempo affittando appartamenti, ma non mi sono mai permessa di assillare così insistentemente i miei ospiti, con anche minacce sui documenti e sulla caparra versata (che non ci sarebbe stata restituita). Se così fosse stato mi sarei di sicuro rivolta alla polizia perchè non cera niente che non andasse quando abbiamo restituito la casa. Io capisco che Elpidis vede quella casa come la sua creatura, costruita da lui con tutti i suoi risparmi, ma se la vuoi affittare non puoi fare il cane da guardia con i tuoi ospiti! la zona è molto ventosa e bisogna fare tanta strada in macchina, circa 1 ora, per trovare spiagge riparate. Mi dispiace perché Creta è un'isola splendida e i cretesi pure, ma Elpidi ha reso la nostra vacanza molto meno piacevole e...

The Villa is great - good equipped and really nice looking. The owner was explaining us a lot concerning nice beaches and restaurants to visit. Just was strange that we had only sun boiler for 10 people - this is not enough and was not possible to enjoy a nice shower. And as well the Villa is not for 10 people - the last couple does not have a separate bathroom with shower. One of the couple's had to visit one of the other rooms bathrooms to shower with at least warm water. As well the guy is really nice but visiting the Villa every day to...
