Positives: Villa Mala Location is set among beautiful mountains with great view to the Sea and Mirtos. ALL STAFF very friendly and helpful, Including Owner and requests for alternatives to menu were sorted without problems. Bedlinen was always fresh and clean and Towels. Locals in Village also friendly, especially when we tried little bit of Greek language, and they corrected us with a smile every time. We were made very welcome by everyone. Thank You to all ,Sofia and the ladies in Kitchen and room cleaning.
Negatives: Be aware the driving to Villa Mala is tricky and best avoided in the Dark! ROOM: "Luxury" is advertised for Villa Mala- from the Fully fitted kitchen to Luxury bathroom Products" That is NOT what we found. for 151 Euro per night we did not expect an Extractor fan in bathroom which fell from its place, water coming up through the floor, Dangerous bathroom door handle, which dropped off more than once, Wires sticking out of wall near dining table. Despite reading negative comments from previous guests ( as far back as 2 years or so )no improvements seem to have been made. We booked in for 10 days, so had time to discover any faults. . Providing a Flat Screen T:V: does not put the *rating Up. Sorry, but for us it was a little disappointing in...
Read moreThe Villa Mala is tucked away in a quiet mountain village facing down to the brilliant blue sea. The mountains rise behind and to either side, enclosing the region in the magnificent and rugged landscape. The steep terrain lifts the Villa above the buildings before it and endows it's balconies with views over the Mediterranean jewel that is Crete, set into the band of blue sea. Here, the patio of the taverna attached to the Villa is, on a summer's evening, the tranquil gathering place for drinks, food, and conversation for both traveller and townsfolk alike. The rooms are decorated and furnished so as to be both comfortable and tasteful, and above all, they are clean. The upper apartments have sitting balconies which provide the aforementioned views over the beautiful island. The room I occupied was also graced with a kitchenette, dining, and living areas. Nikos, the innkeeper, was affable and the service of the Villa and the taverna, for they are the same, is well run. The food of the taverna is delicious and served with the sincerity of Cretan hospitality. Both dinner and breakfast were relaxing and did not lack for flavorful dishes and good drink. When next I return this corner of the wild mountains I hope to stay at the...
Read moreWe have booked this place based on the pictures on booking.com showing a luxurious accommodation with a deluxe jacuzzi and an amazing view over the mountains and the sea.|Unfortunately the place in real doesn’t match the pictures which are probably decades old . We ended up in an outdated accommodation, what had to be a luxurious place once was not maintained, old, dirty place! What supposed to be a deluxe jacuzzi once was a disgusting thing you would not even get into.|While we had definitely one of the best foods ever in the taverna which belonged to the same owners and people there were very nice and friendly, it didn’t justify how disappointed we were with the apartment!|The rooms were so hot with the airco hardly working, we hardly slept and if you opened the windows, you smelled the food from the taverna and all the noise of chatter till midnight.||We had booked the place for 5 days and made 50% down payment, but it was so disappointing that we wanted to leave the next morning already. Unfortunately there was no body around that spoke English that we could explain the situation .||We called the company which the owners have outsourced the service to, we have not get any refund for the extra nights that we paid and...
