We have recently returned from a two week stay here. We were disappointed on arrival having been allocated an economy room which was in the basement, and was dark, apparently we had booked economy but were told we had a balcony. It would have cost a lot more to change. However, we soon got used to it and it was nice and cool returning from the beach feeling very hot and bothered. We couldn't use the two drawers on the right in the wardrobe because the bedside table was in the way so they wouldn't open. The pillows were quite hard. At 9 o'clock we fancied a drink at the bar, bar? what bar? the restaurant was locked as the owners were away for a few days, and the next day we were told we could have a drink anytime if we asked, but there is no bar, so just saying this to prepare people booking if that's what they like. It's nice to have a bar where the guests can congregate and socialise, but we accepted that there wasn't one and bought our own wine and beer, however, we went out every evening anyway, so no problem. There is no pool which would have been nice at times for me as I'm a bit wobbly on my legs and found it a bit difficult getting into the sea on the beach, there are flat uneven rocks with crevices and you have to tread carefully. There are a couple of dogs that bark at every car that goes by, but the big one is lovely. Having got that out of the way, we had a really lovely time here, it is a really nice hotel, very quiet, you wouldn't know there were other guests apart from the ones next door, the gardens are beautiful, and the staff are really nice, especially Kasha who was so friendly, and kept our room so tidy and spotless every day.It was lovely to come back to our room and the bed which was made up so nicely every day.It was a pleasure to see her every day and nothing was too much trouble. The beach is lovely, no trouble getting a sunbed, sometimes there was hardly anyone else there, and so quiet apart from weekends when the local people came over, but even then it was quiet. You definitely need a car, as there is nowhere local to eat apart from the port, which is a fish restaurant, although there are a few meat dishes, it's just an ordinary restaurant, nothing fancy. We used to go into Kissamos every evening, we found the square where there are lots of shops and restaurants, and also went down to the seafront, where there are restaurants all the way along. Our favourite was Maria's Beach, we went there quite a few times. There are a lot of shops in the main street so you can get anything you want, and a couple of really good supermarkets. ||We would recommend this hotel, as it is out of the way, and a little piece of Heaven, we would go back again but not for two weeks, maybe for a few days while touring. We visited Falasarna beach which isn't far away at all, quite often, it is a really beautiful beach. After the first disappointment the place grew on us day by day and at the end we were very...
Read moreI am torn with this review.||In many ways this is a great property but there are significant problems. I failed in my usually good research as it didn't fit our remit.||The first problem was that our apartment although it was very clean and well appointed with fridge and kettle etc, it faced the back over many wires to a building plot and some low hills. Despite stating sea view please in the preference box, I had missed the small print saying mountain view. It is essential to get a sea view as the sunsets etc can be spectacular and there is nowhere else to view them here, and it really doesn't feel good whilst most other people are enjoying spectacular views from balconies with their G&Ts.||Another niggle and its rather pathetic how dependant we become, but the wi-fi was dreadful, non in our room, but oddly available on the beach.||The next big problem is that there was a non functioning restaurant which just offered at extra cost a very poor breakfast (we only braved it once). It was closed the rest of the day and there are no nearby tavernas.||So that is the final and biggest problem. You have to have a car to go out to eat or you have to self cater. You cannot easily walk to any alternative taverna the nearest being several miles away.||On the positive side the beach is really good, clean quiet and with good sun beds and clear clean water with fairly good (for the med) snorkelling. (worth a visit if your are staying elsewhere).||Fortunately we had hired a car and we ended up driving everywhere and using the apartment for sleeping and breakfast.||In fairness the owners were very friendly and offered us a very attractive upgrade at reduced but still considerable extra cost. However although sea view this didn't solve the other problems and so we declined.||In the end we took a loss and moved to another area.||For the owners, I am sorry but you need to either open up the restaurant as a proper taverna, or help someone else to nearby. Your property then would become much...
