We booked this accommodation as a treat for the family as we were travelling around this area of Greece. The website images looked incredible and the private pool confirmed our decision to book. Upon arriving on the Island the host ‘Tassos’ was in contact and he waited for us in the nearby town to drive ahead as the suites are remote. The views from the suites were beautiful as you are high up on a mountain but there is nothing around and you will need a car.||Upon arriving we were given the main (larger) suite, it was clean and fresh, the kitchen had basic equipment but no drinks were provided in the fridge and no coffee for the espresso machine. The bathrooms were also clean to look at and seemed to function well. However, after our initial entrance we began to see problems. The water running in the kitchen and bathrooms was brown, a dark brown that did not clear. The lack of provided bottled water meant we had to go shopping the moment we arrived. The websites (their own and on other sites) state breakfast is provided in the room and that there is a bar/snack area. None of this was available. The bar area was used as a storage area with sad and old looking fridges and disused umbrellas. It was in the middle of a heat wave in the summer and we did not have access to any clean water. The beds were comfortable but we soon realised that one of the toilets did not work properly. The products in the bathrooms were not Korres (as stated on the website) although this may all seem rather small when you consider the cost of the accommodation and what is advertised the two did not marry up. ||The pool area looked beautiful, there were seats around the pool but no real shade except over the main outside dining table. Within a few minutes we soon realised the private pool was in fact full of insects. It was clearly very hot in the middle of July and the various insects and wasps were finding solace in the cool pool water. This was the first problem we encountered, upon asking Tassos about this we were told that we would not be stung! However, we were nervous about the number of insects and were constantly trying to fish them out with a net. Again the cost of the accommodation and the fact we could not use the pool was a real disappointment. There was no attempt to rectify the problems during our stay. ||Tassos did bring us some fresh pastries one morning but we needed to pay for these and were given them over the wall (so no other guests could not see). I suppose this was breakfast in the room at an added cost. ||For the money it cost (and we did pay in cash as requested) I would not recommend this accommodation. In hindsight we should have left after one night, but when you are travelling as a family this can be difficult. Our excitement to spend a few days in Kythira in this accommodation was disappointing and Tassos made no attempt to offer us some compensation. We were not stung by the wasps but we were by the accommodation. I am Greek so I know what the expected...
Read moreFirst things first, even before speaking about the suites, allow me to speak about Tassos, the host of the place. I think the word fantastic doesn't even start to cover what there is to say about the guy. I didn't had much contacts with him as he was more speaking with my GF since she is Greek, but he speaks english without any problem. ||First thing he does is give you a map and give you very good addresses in Kythira. Among them the restaurant Barkoula... that we discovered thanks to him. For every village he has multiple choice addresses (and NO he doesn't have any interest in the places) and each one of them is worth being spotted.||Now let's move to the rooms, one word: Amazing. I will not even start on the COCO-MAT bed... Open google and check the prices of one of those and then try them... Just once. I now feel sorry for any other bed I will sleep in.||The decoration is sober but very holliday style.||So to summarize this place is amazing, Tassos and the bed on their own make it worth. If i have to make small negative remarks, but very small ones:||1) the walls separating one suite from another is a little bit too small, so when you are tall, everytime you stand, you see the neigbhours.||2) a car is MANDATORY to be there as it is really isolated (but only by 10 minutes by car).||Anyway thank you Tassos for your kindness and your...
