Manolis and Filio Home-By The Sea — Hotel in Municipality of Milos

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! AVOID!!!! This review is in regards to our stay at Manolis and Filios home in Plaka, Milos.

Unprofessional, disorganized, and extremely rude and disrespectful host. Filio states on her profile that she is fluent in English but she is NOT! Her only information was that there is no public transportation on the island and we MUST rent a car on the island. She provided no luggage storage which was not communicated until a few hour prior to our arrival and instead assumed we had a car and sent us recommendations of various places to go to until our room was ready for check in at 3pm. After a very lovely local offered us a ride from the airport and luggage storage at her family owned hotel, we decide to make the most of our day and arrived to Our Airbnb at 5pm and was greeted by Filio who was extremely rude and stated “I waited for you since 2:30pm”. She then threaten to kick us out but then offered us wine. The host is extremely moody and used her pregnancy and lack of covid vaccination as an excuse as to why she could not offer to pick us from the airport, etc. She also stated the room required 3-4 hours of deep cleaning due to COVID yet the room was still dirty, barely had any hand soap, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. It was still dusty and the iron was rusty. If you want a relaxing vacation, then I would avoid her properties!!! Red flag: Airbnb has all positive reviews, so do your research and check her reviews on google, there’s negative ones there which alerts me to Airbnb filtering...

My husband and I just spent 4 days and 3 nights here and Filio was such a kind hostess.

She sent us information about the island including specific beaches and restaurants in all the towns before we arrived. When we got there, she elaborated and even showed pictures. We exchanged numbers and she was available to offer advice when needed.

She was flexible with our arrival time and met us at the property. She had local wine, espresso and bottled water there for us as well.

The house was in perfect condition. We cooked every meal at home and weren’t missing a thing. There was even a laundry rack and wash basin there so we could do laundry.

The house had a direct view of the sunset and plenty of cliffs surrounding that offered an equally beautiful sunrise.

The beach in the cove was filled with local children playing and the sounds of crashing waves. The neighboring beach, Alogomandra, was very large but we had it completely to ourselves!

We rented a buggy from the port town of Milos and it was a 15 minute easy and scenic drive to the house. From there it was 10 minutes to Apollonia, 20 minutes to Klima and only 20 to the famous Tsigrado Beach across the island. It was in just the right spot for seclusion but easy access to everything.

Manolis and Filio Home by the Sea was absolutely perfect! If you are interested in a peaceful, tranquil, experience by the sea, this is the place for you. The boathouse was immaculately clean, had all the necessary items, was very quiet with the sounds of the water just outside to lull you to sleep. We swam in the cove, walked around the area and enjoyed watching the beautiful sunset. On the balcony, we had coffee every morning, wine every evening. Filio was very helpful in offering suggestions for car rental, a boat tour and restaurant advice. She even brought us fruit from her garden.
