Avoid Avoid Avoid at all costs if you are English and even more so of you are a Jet2 customer as you will have been dumped here with no Jet2 rep onsite, the WhatsApp service can leave you waiting over night and unable to book any excursions at the hotel even though we were told by Jet2 we could, reception staff are unhelpful, rude, racists they do not like us English and do not want "our money" at check in saying hello the reception said "where are you from" we said the UK, her reply " English people do not stay here" " we only have Danish, Dutch, American and Greeks but never English" this was at check in, we were made to wait 2 hours for our room as only one room had been allocated even though we booked two and we are a nice hard working British family, this is not in anyway shape or form a 5 star hotel, it is at its very best a low rank 3 star hotel, in fact we have reported it to the relevant agencies to be investigated and reclassified our rep came to the hotel and took photos of the food and to witness the service on offer following complaints (we can in no way fault Shaon the Jet2 rep that visited us she went above and beyond), yes the property may one day be a 5 star but it is not finished and that rating is years away don'tfall for the sleek presentation video/photos the breakfast is an absolute joke, if there is actually any and is not cold, it is all the leftovers from the day before and the day before that, free coffee machine apparently does "not"work but they are happy to charge you for a coffee from the barista machine, we had bed and breakfast, (for gods sake do not book all inclusive you will regret it) rock hard bread rolls and croissants, dry bread from boxes, tables are not laid in the mornings, the day before tomato's and lettuce if you eat here in the evening it was very common to wait approx 1hr and 30 minutes, staff will argue in front of you, ignore you and guests were continually cancelling their orders as they had waited over 2 hours for food even if it is not busy, they will tell you on the day time that their "credit card is not working today" and charge whatever they want to your room but not provide a printout, honestly the place is a scam, trying to book any treatments is impossible as website links do not work and the spa staff just sit downstairs staring at their phones also looking beyond miserable and we did not see a single staff member smile in 7 days, everything is "just 2 minutes" but if you get an answer at all it will be hours later but it will be your fault. We have never stayed at such a disorganised unwelcoming unprofessional location in all our travels and we have travelled the world we have stayed in nicer more pleasant hostels, Lesvos as an Island is bland, boring and not ready for tourists (especially if English) it is just for older people, the place has no class or culture of any actual interest, not for anyone under 50 and the general feeling is that the residents would rather be left alone, we hired a car and travelled the island and the feeling was the same in every place, we went into the town of Mitilni for dinner on 3 of our 7 nights and we were continually pestered by homeless/street children and families begging at our tables while we waited for food they just walk into each restaurant and beg at your table and the staff do nothing, if you want to have the worst holiday ever stay here and come to Lesvos, spend your money elsewhere you have been warned, read all the other actual reviews, not the fake 5 stars ones it is all untrue, Avoid Avoid Avoid go to a different country we will never ever return even if the trip was paid for and all the food was included, we are happy to leave the island of Lesvos to the Greek people, the airport is a joke also, please please spend your hard earned English money anywhere else, would have rated it 0 stars if had the option not value for money at all, food mostly kebabs, pizzas and burgers, bread and tomatoes, there really is not enough room to write all the poor standards things for this place just...
Read moreThe worst hotel experience I can remember, made even worse by the fact that this claims to be a 5 star hotel and is priced accordingly.
I can't remember ever encountering so many problems at a hotel, regardless of price and location.
First of all, the hotel is not quite finished and there are signs all over the place that it was a rush job to open it for this holiday season. All over the place you can find leftover bits and pieces from the construction work. To make things worse, there is ongoing construction work on the site, using heavy machinery (bulldozer), that begins early in the morning. The workers on the site have free access to the alleys that crisscross the rooms and you bump into them quite frequently, carrying ladders or buckets with construction materials. The balconies being at the same level as the alleys means that there is little privacy, either from the workers and the other hotel guests.
Speaking of the balconies, they are designed in such a way that there is no protection from direct sunlight, even from early hours.
This gets us to the room. Although new, one of the walls in our room was bloated, cracked and the paint was peeling away. Another had signs of a bad repair job.
The room is quite small and some of the most basic things you would expect to get in any hotel room are sadly missing. There aren't any cupboards or shelves for your clothes, just a basic piece of furniture on which you can stack your clothes for everyone to see. There isn't a single rack or hook to hang the towels (not even the ones in the bathroom), so everyone puts their towels to dry on the balcony frontispieces - the very thing you would expect to see at a 5 star hotel.
The cleanliness of the room is relative. The toilet had some suspect brown spots in it and there was a hair in the sink. On the balcony floor there was a large brown circle, as if something rusty had been sitting there for a while. The two (very basic) glasses in the room were dirty.
The WiFi only worked inside the room, but not inside the bathroom.
The fridge is noisy.
No slippers or any of the other usual complementary things you get in a hotel (shower cap, sewing kit etc).
The water pressure in the shower is too low.
Outside, the pool amenities are insufficient. Some of the pictures with which the pool area of the hotel was (and still is) advertised are simply fake, for lack of a better word.
The sun umbrellas are small, ineffective and sparse (being made out of knitted linen), the sunbeds few and uncomfortable, without any sort of cushioning or shading.
The sunbeds provided by the hotel on the beach across the road are of the most basic variety, so half of them are already broken or in a bad condition and there are insufficient sun umbrellas.
The breakfast was disappointing, verging on hazardous.
Firstly, the breakfast was served in the hotel lobby, because the usual spot had been taken up by a conference taking place at the hotel, so the place was small and very crowded.
Everything had a makeshift air, and there wasn't any label on anything, so you wouldn't know what was what.
Secondly, there are problems with the dishes. The first three plates I took from the rack were dirty with dried up food leftovers. The first glass I took was chipped.
Then, there was the food. Despite a 5-minute litany that we had to listen from one of the staff members when we arrived about the highest quality of the food, the reality was underwhelming to say the least.
Three types of very cheap cold cuts, the one which I presumed was chicken ham having some very suspect blue-greenish spots on it. The smallest and thinnest pieces of Gouda cheese I have ever seen - about 2 inches per 2 inches.
The bacon was sweet (!) and the sausages tasted bad.
No lactose free option.
The hotel management was disrespectful to us when we pointed out to them these shortcomings. Although we had booked for two nights, we departed a day early after encountering all these issues. Our request to get our money back is still pending,...
Read moreMythical coast, more like MEDIOCRE COAST. Advertised as a 5 star retreat, my partner and I were expecting a luxurious getaway travelling for a wedding in the area. However, we left disappointed and could not justify the prices we paid for what we received. Objectively, this was our experience summarised:
Rooms Finishes to the room overall not reflective of a 5 star hotel. Painting unfinished, some lights didn’t work, mirror was cheap and tiny, TV is small and not a smart TV with limited channels little room to store suitcases and only a couple hangers 1 iron for the entire resort. Good luck ironing your shirt. no where to hang wet clothes on the balcony safe didn’t work no wine glasses or cutlery no “do not disturb” sign
Service there seems to be no system in place at all for cleaning. There is no do not disturb hangers to put out on doors. Cleaners can come at any point during the day. One day the cleaners woke us up in the morning and another day they came late in the afternoon. Some days the cleaners don’t come at all and if they did, they didn’t always provide new towels. our items were moved around after the cleaners had come in which was concerning as we had valuables in the room and the safe did not work some staff members were nice, others looked as though they didn’t want to be there. we requested a late checkout (1-2pm instead of 12pm) and were told this would cost 50 euro extra. Although I’m sure this is their procedure, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth that they are not willing to accomodate your needs when spending all this money.
Location advertised as an “unbeatable location”, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Hotel is approximately 15-20min from the city centre and nearest restaurants by car. You are virtually stranded at the hotel and forced to take taxis to and from for 15-20 euro each way everyday. Not to mention Mythical coast take a cut for calling a taxi. the hotel does offer a 8:30am drop off and 6:00pm pickup. This is not nearly enough, there should be more transfers available. the beach in front of the hotel is nothing to write home about. If you want to go to the beach, you’ll need to get a taxi further down.
Facilities don’t be fooled by the “pools” (plural) on the website. There is one outdoor pool which is decent and one indoor pool. However, they fail to mention that you can’t access the indoor pool unless you pay extra for the spa treatments. Not what you expect in a 5 star hotel… the term “gym” can be used pretty loosely. A cable machine, some free weights and a couple treadmills. Happy there was a “gym” but don’t expect anything special. This area is designed like an after thought. Tiles not grouted, shower incomplete, signs are just paper, etc…
Breakfast in line with this review, breakfast is mediocre. Having eaten around the island, the breakfast at the hotel does not even come close. the food is not always hot the coffee is shocking they often ran out of cutlery, specifically knives you had to ask for water specifically overall average, not 5 star…
Within 5 minutes of checking in, the staff requested us to leave a positive review… concerning… we hadn’t even seen our room yet.
I hope the team can use this to better the experience for others as I think there is potential. If the hotel was advertised and prices as 3 star, we’d be happy with our stay.
Until they make some changes or reduce their prices, you’re better off staying in the city centre and avoiding...
