This was a discovery visit since we own a house nearby.||Opora country living tries to combine a 1950’s experience with today’s world. It almost succeeds. ||What’s great? |Well, beautiful country setting with the stone built bungalows set among olive trees on the side of a hill. ||Well arranged unique furniture in every bungalow. ||Amazing full breakfast included, although it should be called brunch as it is so huge. Ours had pancakes topped with Nutella, bananas in cinnamon sugar, omelette, fresh orange juice, espresso, spinach filo pie, fruits and much more. Tables arranged by house, all set in olive trees(I do suggest they place little saucers in the chair legs so their pointed ends don’t descent into the grass - I found some flat stones for this purpose).||Beautiful furniture and a look of time gone by all over. Beautiful table that took the entire room, but nice to look at. ||Nice pool, reading area and a little nice chapel in the grounds. Used the anti mosquito repellent but didn’t see any mosquitos anywhere which was great as they certainly like my blood!||What’s not to like? ||Impracticality in places. Nice old house look, with hanging herbs, curtains over some windows but not others in same room. There was an immovable hanging lamp between viewers and the TV which meant watching one had to sit extreme left or right. We used our laptop to watch a movie on the tv using an HDMI cable, but there was no socket nearby for power. It would be nice to have an extension cord. Very slow internet (measured 6mbps). Much better service if they had a 4G router (which is what we did using our smartphone as a router). ||But all in all a wonderful stay, and highly recommended. Haven’t found many such places...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time at Opora Country Living.||We stayed at the Master Country Living House. Its architecture blended perfectly with the olive grove and fruit orchard. The house was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. It included everything we needed for our stay. ||The owners and staff were very warm, kind and welcoming; we instantly felt part of their life there. Even though it was a working farm, they were always respectful and accommodating to all guests. ||Breakfast was the highlight of our day; it was served on our porch, and it included a wide variety of nutritious homemade foods, most of which were produced from the orchard. ||We decided not to use a car during our stay, and opted to spend our days by the pool or hiking around the beautiful countryside around the property. Via Opora, we also arranged a taxi transfer to Tolo, where we went on a day trip visit to Hydra and Spetses. The nearest village was a half hour walk from the property and had some lovely tavernas. For our nights in, Opora also offered a menu service with mediterranean dishes served in the comfort of our property. We were really impressed with the quality and range of options on offer, including lots of traditional greek dishes with a modern twist. ||We would highly recommend Opora Country Living and we look forward to visiting again soon. A warm thank you to the Markidis family for hosting us and for their kindness...
