Μιτάτος "Ματθαίος" (Mitatos "Matthew") — Hotel in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

I've been accommodated in this new listing, and I am glad I did ☺️🥰. This accommodation is a total experience, a "mitatos" (a Greek shepherd's hut/refuge) that has been renovated with care and love. It provides Internet (of which connection worked perfectly), TV, washing machine, shower, kitchenette... The mattress was very comfortable! I was greeted by Giannis and his father, and they were extra lovely with me. They explained everything the Mitato had to offer, and they also provided me with some fruits, juices, coffee, bottled water, and pastries! They really took care of me! This accommodation is for those who are seeking isolation in the less developed side of Naxos (the east coast). It is for those who don't need to have all the services at the door step, instead, it is for those who are in search of a rural experience in direct contact with nature. The Mitato is on a big plot of land facing the sea! This side of the island is full of little secluded beaches that have been almost untouched. You can also spot the occasional griffon vulture flying over the area! The road that leads to the accommodation is an absolute experience! It crosses the mountain chain of Naxos, from Apiranthos to Moutsouna. The views are amazing, plenty of rock formations, peaks, cliffs, juniper and oak forest, loads of turns! If you like driving these kinds of roads, you will find it awesome, and it will amount to the whole experience of being isolated in a special place. I highly recommend this accommodation (which indeed is more of an experience!), and I really wish Giannis and his father well with the future lettings of this lovely and very complete little house. This was our favorite place to stay at in 8 years in Naxos. It is simply a beautiful place in the wilder part of the island, where you can fully relax and enjoy the nature. It is an old shepherd's hut, rebuilt with obvious love and attention to details. It lacks nothing in terms of amenities, with plenty of relaxation spots organized outside, on the terrace and continuing with such modern appliances as high speed internet, smart tv, washing machine and even a hot water shower place outside (aside from the shower cabin inside, of course). What completely topped up our experience though was the amazing sea view from the terrace and the quietness at night. Near Moutsouna on the eastern coast of Naxos, a small house for two people nestled in the peaceful countryside. In the morning, the sounds of buzzards echo, and you can admire the flights of peregrine falcons against a deep blue sky. In the evening, the bells of goats and sheep create a bucolic atmosphere. Nearby, there are beautiful, secluded sandy beaches (Psili Amnos) and pebble beaches (Azalas). Matthew and Giannis are extremely kind and helpful hosts, welcoming their guests with genuine courtesy and delicious produce from their small garden. We spent 12 truly special days.
