My family and I (including two children aged 10 and 8) have just spent two idyllic weeks at the stunning Poet’s House (first floor apartment). We thoroughly enjoyed spending time in this unique historic family apartment and also relaxing by the beautifully landscaped and well maintained swimming pool.
Takis and his parents Socrates and Kiki (and Nella the friendly family dog) are exceptional hosts and are were so responsive, attentive and welcoming both before and during our memorable and relaxing stay.
Throughout our stay our hosts provided us with consistently excellent recommendations for unique and uncrowded sand beaches, local tavernas to eat authentic Corfoit /Greek food and places to visit on the beautiful island. In addition they provided practical assistance with airport pick up/ drop off, car hire, car parking and supermarket recommendations.
Of particular note are the following:
Benitses Car rental: Prior to our arrival Takis introduced us to Spiros at Benitses Car Rental. Spiros promptly and efficiently arranged our airport pick up/drop off and car rental. Spiros was waiting for us on our arrival and quickly and safely transferred my family and our luggage to the Marcoras Estate. He delivered our rental car and quickly completed all paperwork and provided a detailed map of places to visit in Corfu. Throughout our visit Spiros and his family were consistently helpful, reliable and always available for any queries we had.
Spiros Taverna: Strongyli Village Takis also introduced us to Spiros and Voula who run the local village taverna. We had the most delicious home made Corfoit/Greek meals at the taverna and returned multiple times. Spiros and his family were so kind, generous and welcoming.
My family and I look forward to returning to the Marcoras estate and Strongyli village soon...
Read moreWe're just back from a fantastic week at Marcoras estate. It was our first time to Corfu and we wanted something close to the airport, central, and away from too much hussle. The estate is beautiful, with a fantastic view of the scenery.
Location wise, it's about 30 mins from the airport, quite an easy drive although the last 1km short cut is very steep and winding. You will definitely need a car to stay here as there is only a very small market and one taverna within walking distance (both very good)
The pool is a great way to chill out at the end of a busy day and take in the views. We were lucky enough to have it to ourselves whenwlever we used it, as I guess the other guests may have been out exploring the island.
Hospitality from Maria Takis and particularly Socrates was fantastic and really sets this place apart. They really can't do enough for you, from recommendations, helping with house bits, or also dropping off fresh flowers fruit and pastries. Socrates even set up the TV so I could watch the Euros. Their hospitality is outstanding. Fresh water melon at the pool etc. lovely. Space is great, the main living area has everything you need although we never cooked during our week, we ate our every night.
Another couple of tips is, we used Spiros at Benitses car hire for our car who was brilliant. He really looked after us and also transferred us to and from the airport.
Aqualand is well worth a visit. Marathias beach was a great day out, as was Agios Gordis beach. Just prepare for a bit of driving each day.
We'd highly recommend Marcoras if you are looking for something a bit different, quiet and excellent hospitality. Thanks again...
Read moreWe have just returned from a wonderful stay at Takis’ and Maria’s house. It’s a lovely historic property with a beautiful view across the valley - the photographs don’t do it justice. Takis was extremely kind and helpful, with everything from pre-trip communications, arrangements for our early arrival and recommendations for places to visit and eat at. Kiki and Socrates, Takis’ parents who live on site, made us feel extremely welcome with their generosity and sharing their beautiful home. We would love to go back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here. The people are delightful and the views are stunning! You should also visit Spiro’s taverna in the village for...
