We visited this place for a long weekend, and it was an excellent choice.
Firstly, your hosts (the owners) are a really pleasant and friendly couple who will make sure you have everything you need, and provide any advice on places to visit in the local area.
Another standout is the breakfast, which is included. Lots of local and homemade produce, really tasty and interesting. They have an open log fire in the bar/eating area. You can sit there in the evening and have a drink if you wish, while having a chat with the owners or other guests.
Rooms are clean, and modern, and it appears all rooms (although I can't be absolutely sure) have a balcony with views across a very impressive mountain landscape. They are all west facing, so perfect for sunset.
As for location, it is situated in a village called Varvitsa, the village itself doesn't have a great deal going on at this time of year (early March). There are no tavernas or shops open. However, this means the place is serene, and if you are a rambler, or like cycling the area is full of well sign posted trails.
Although the village itself is quiet, there are other villages (Vamvakou and Karyes, both worth a visit) that are within a few minutes drive that have places to eat and drink, as well as interesting things to see, so there is still plenty to do within the local area.
All in all I'm extremely happy we chose this place to stay and wouldn't hesitate to return if we are in...
Read moreWe stayed here as a group and everything was just perfect for everybody. The owners are so welcoming and sincere. Martha is just an angel! She even made special tea for me with the herbs she collected from the mountains just because I had a tired throat! The rooms are so clean ( this is coming from a very picky person about hygiene) and the food is just amazing! The view calms you down and the fresh air refreshes you! I highly recommend this experience. I am glad that we haven't stayed in the center of Sparta. I will try to find another chance to...
Read moreWe booked for the end of March of 2019 for 3 families and although one of the families did not confirm and did not prepay the very rude owner manage to ask and get the money from the friends as a unfair compensation using tricks. Very rude terrible manners and extremely overpriced. 200 Euros for a family appartment found in a uninhabited village called Varvitsa with out even a small place for a coffee. I can understand why there are never customers there. I try to book there because there was no room at the magnificent village of Karyes. Stay...
